Raining again.

 Forecast was for 20 - 30 cms of rain, it is hissing down. Yesterday was sunny but very cold and windy, I was going to take DB out but having been out myself I decided aginst it, good job, it threw it down for about an hour, water everywhere, thankfully not in the apartment.

DB seems to have recovered from his 'attack' on Wednesday night, he has been ok since. Managed to get him to walk to the fench foors and back each time he used the commode, so not bad.

I am very tired, 4 hours last night, hope for better tonight. Carer rang to say she was going to be late, she got lost looking for a new patient. Had already given DB his breakfast apart from his coffee.

Washing machine loaded to do a wash tonight, will dry it on the airer. Have had to put our DD up for the electric now we are using the heaters as and when required. The living room one I have set at 20c so if the temperature drops it kicks in. So far it has not been too bad. I am looking at buying a couple of hot water bottles, I had to throw the old ones away, they perish after so long.

Supper tonight chicken and bacon pie with some extra chicken. I have a gammon joint out defrosting, will cook it later for tomorrow and wrap up the rest for the freezer. I am planning on buting a pork joint from Aldi this week, will cook and slice it for sandwiches and main meals over the next few weeks.

Waiting to hear from the tax people about DB's tax, I will have to fill the forms in he cannot do it himself, I will also have to sign them.

Need to sort out the rest of the christmas cards, will have to post the ones to DD1 etc, unless they are going to come over, which I doubt, they are busy clearing out stuff the will not need when they get into their new bungalow.

What a performance

When the carer came last night to get DB ready for bed, DB decided to have one siezure after another with heavy breathing, almost gasping for breath. We rang for an ambulance, the rapid responce unit came first closely followed by the ambulance, after completing checks etc it was decided that he should stay at home.........his seizured etc had settles. Needless to say I did not sleep well, unlike DB who slept for 2 hours before telling me he needed to toilet, he them went back to sleep leaving me wide awake.

I got breakfast in bed, as the carer was going to be late, she wahed and dressed DB and brought him into the sitting room. He has spent the morning watching a Sharp film on his table. After his lunch he has settled down for a sleep. I ave to wake him at 2.30pm.

I am like a wet lettuce this morning, no energy, I am going to try for a sleep as well.

Supper tonight sweet and sour chicken with rice, probably mince pie for dessert with some custard.

Another Fine Day

But it's bitterly cold out.

DB spent most of the morning asleep, I hung the laundry on the airer in the sewing room, but away the bits left from Saturday's wash.

Spent most of the morning reading, sorted out the supper, belly pork in tomato sauce with mash, carrots and peas. DB will have a mince pie with custard, I will finish up the crumble.

Tomorrow is the coffee morning here, so hopefully will get to that. I hope to get to the Chapel next Wednesday  to deliver cards etc.

Fine

But cold this morning. A bit later getting up, carers were not due till 9am. We had a new lady yesterday filling in for the carer who night sits a patient. DB said she was very thorough.

DB ate all his supper last night, plus a small helping of apple crumble. I have almost used up the apples, will nip along and see if there are any left, might be able to find space in the freezer for some peeled and chopped ones. I freeze them in portions either for crumble or apple sauce.

Started to write the Christmas cards, I am not sure about going g to the coffee morning next week, worried about the new strain of covid which seems to be going round. We have both had the vaccinations, but still concerned.

Stepson's little girl had another very bad seizure yesterday, was taken to hospital, but allowed home last night.

Cleaner here yesterday, usual thorough job. I dread her saying that she is finding her job plus the cleaning too much, she has fitted in so well, gets on with the job.

Better nights sleep last night......was very tired yesterday.

Supper tonight will doubtless be eaten, sausage, mash, baked beans and onion gravy, apple crumble for dessert.

Its Raining

at least its not snowing, if it were we would be just about snowed in!!

Bad night last night, I have been sleeping better of late, DB was unsettled. 

DD 2 came with daughter and GGS, he is standing on his own, not quite dareing to walk, but moves at speed on his hands and knees. Like all babies he likes to explore......the mat at the frone door was an object of interest till he tried to eat it!! I was eating a mince pie, he came and stood at my knee with his mouth open like a little bird, He did not get any of the filling, I did not want to be blamed for the contents of his nappy later, just a couple of bits of the pastry which seemed to go down well.

I am shattered this morning, yesterday was a bad day for DB, the usual trouble.......I had to get up twice in the night to him.

We have decided to have soup for lunch and poached egg on toast for supper, it means I do not have to routle through the freezer to find something for supper. Tomorrow will be roast pork.

Brrrrr

Heavy frost over night, the sun is blazing, but very little heat in it........very clear blue sky. So far no snow, lets hope it stays like that.

Quiet day after two busy days, am stull fighting to register a bank card....... getting really brassed off. DB is performing his usual tricks a have just chewed him off yet again. I do not know why I bother.........today it was melon he could not chew!! Why I bothered to pay a fortune to get him a decent set of dentures I really do not know. It looks like everything I feed him is going to have to be slops. Having said that the fish and chips DD2 is bringing tonight he will eat, no problem!!!!!!!!!Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Not a bad nights sleep, although I could do with a nap, the trouble is if I have one, the chances are I will not sleep tonight.

Hey Ho the chemist has just delivered another set of dosset boxes for DB. That makes 8 boxes in stock........

Still crackered

Today was my 2 hours off. I had a not so little list for Aldi, picked up a couple of things that were not on the list. I then went and had a root round the charity shop, was looking for a table for the hall. No luck, so treated myself to lemon and ginger sponge and a cup of tea. DB was just finishing his lunch when I got back. Fridge and freezer loaded, so I do not think we will starve!!

Load of laundry washed overnight, drying on the airer in the second bedroom, it will get put away tomorrow. Looking for something to tackle on the machine. I also need to sort out the cards for the coffee morning at Hose.

Supper was hard boiled eggs and salad, ice cream for dessert.

Crackered

Today was the craft fair, it was abysmal, I ended up making just over £20. Spent 4 hours sitting on my bum.

On the goodside DB stayed in the flat, I checked on him a couple of times, he was ok, went back and had my lunch and then back for the last hour.

It's very cold out, no snow but there were signs of frost on the roofs.

Tomorrow I get my 2 hours off........a trip to Aldi to stock up a bit, I might even get into the town for a wander.

Supper tonight, fish fingers, mash, peas and butter sauce.

 

After

two days of torrential rain, we woke this morning to bright sun, I put the heat on first thing then turned it off.

Bonnie, DB's carer help me change the bed, the linen is in the machine set to wash tonight on the cheap electricity.

As its a fine day will take DB for a stroll round the estate after lunch.

I have looked out and priced the stock I have left for the sale on Wednesday..... the sale starts at 12.30, so we will have to have an early lunch.........

Thursday is my 2 hours off, so a list for Aldi, there is a new fabric shop has opened in the town, might see if I have time to take a gander at that. We have needed one for a very long time.

Supper tonight, the remains of yesterdays chicken with salad and new potatoes, I used some of the apples and blackberries from the freezer to make a crumble, so will have that for dessert. Will make an oranges in jelly tomorrow to last for the rest of the week.

And more rain

We have had heavy rain again today. I have not been out, far too wet. I did rescue some geraniums that were threatening to float away.

DB went down to the lounge after lunch to play scrabble, he was there for over an hour, said he enjoyed himself. I sat and relaxed whilst he was away. He was tired when he got back, so had a nap before supper.

Supper, beef and bean casserole. I cooked the beef till it fell to bits and did not need chewing. I have a pan of stock left which will make soup for tomorrows lunch. We finished off the mince pies with some custard,

I have apples so apple crumble, for dessert tomorrow.

Raining again

The water measure is full almost to the top, we have had a lot of rain this month. There are flood warnings in place along the local rivers and streams.

DB is asleep, seems to be his usual mode for the morning. Carer was a bit late this morning. Last night the carer who came was the one we complained about a few weeks ago. She did have the grace to apologise for her behaviour, I felt she was encouraged to do this rather than it was spontaneous.

Washed tge finished book marks last night, laid them on a towel to drt, they are dry this morning, so need to put some of them in packets for the fair next week and add them to the box of stuff I have left over from last year.

Supper tonight baked fish with mash, peas and mustard sauce. We ahve mince pies with custard for dessert.

 

Arrgh

Had an appointment at the pacemaker clinic this morning, so T came to sit with DB and I set off for the hospital. When I got there they could not find the appointment........turned out it had been cancelled and replaced by an appointment in December which I knew about. Not happy, complained bitterly as I had travelled and had to pay for a driver. Eventually they decided that they would see mw, do a wound check and check the pacemaker. I now have a modem by the side of the bed which transmits to the hospital, so I no longer have to go to the clinic......hooray...........Techie said see you in 6 - 9 years unless anything goes wrong.

Back at home DB was asleep, T set off to see another lady and then go to his mothers, so unless something untoward happens he will not have to sit with DB again. I am so grateful to him for his help with DB over the last few months.

Fine day but cold, I took DB out in the wheel chair and we managed to get him in amd out of the car.......so another achievement. Did not have to use his walking frame, I managed to get the wheel chair  close into the front seat. I need to clear out the boot so the wheel chair will go in. A job for a fine day.

Supper tonight egg salad, T bought us some mince pies, so he will have one with some custard for dessert.

Yuk

rain again, very dark, have the sitting room light on. Morrison has delivered my order, I am going to attempt to take DB to the lounge for the coffee morning.......fingers crossed......

Finished all the book marks, now need to soak the stabiliser off and dry them, a good ob done, I can write the Christmas cards next week. I need to give the machine a clean, lots of bits of fluff floating about.

Off to get my pacemaker check tomorrow, T. is comong to sit with DB whilst I go, hope its a better morning.

Sausage, mash and beans tonight, possibly do an oraonge jelly for dessert, will see when I get back from the coffee morning,

 

Raining again.

Woke up to heavy rain, sloshing against the French door. Sky was very dark. Carer came to get DB up, no hot water, I forgot to check the header tank. Had a job to open the water supply, managed eventually. I need to see if there is an over ride so I can heat at least part of the tank.

I have a load of washing to go on tonight, it's cheap rate between 10pm and 6am. So set the wash to finish before 6am. It just needs an extra spin before I hang it up to dry.

I am making bookmarks to put in the Christmas cards for the coffee morning attendees. Will give them to T. To take for me. We are hoping to go to the coffee morning here tomorrow. DB will go in his new wheelchair.......now it has stopped raining I hope to get him out this afternoon for a stroll round the block.

Pasta with bol sauce for supper tonight........finished the crumble so it will be lemon sponge for dessert.

Sorry late posting

I managed to get DB out both Saturday and Sunday, we spoke to various people we met on the way, We just went round the garden and the footprint of the site, a couple of places I had to turn the chair and tow it, the big wheels easier to get up bumps.

Yesterday DD2 came up with GGS, his spots have all scabbed over and he now has 12 teeth!! We had to move stuff out of his reach, he is very mobile now, he did stand for a second or two, then realised what he was doing and sat down!!

Today started off fine, it is now pouring with rain, yuk, so no walk out today. I want to try getting DB in the car if I can......that will be interesting.

I am making a few more bookmarks, the table top sale is a week on Thursday.......10% of the sales go to a local charity.

Supper tonight salmosn, new potatoes, peas and white sauce. Plumb crumble for dessert, using up some of the plums I bought a couple of weels ago.

We have a wheelchair

Chap came this afternoon with a lightweight wheel chair I tried out in the shop yesterday. Got DB into it and took him for a ride down to the lounge, where 4 people were playing whist, DB spoke to them. We walkede back and he transferred from the WC to his chair with the aid of his walking frame..........I need to try getting him into the car from the chair and back again. I also need to clear the boot for the chair to go in. Freedom........of a sort. I will take him down on Wednesday to the coffee morning, see how we get on.

Absolutly hissed down with rain this afternoon, remonded me of the Indian monsoon........

I am going to have a play, I think I have found a way to get the laundry to wash on the night rate, am going to try it tonight, see what happens.....It will save us a shed load if it works.

Supper tonight fish fingers, mash, peas and parsley sauce followed by sponge cake slice.

 

Anyone would think it was spring

March wind and April showers today, thought I had slept through winter, no such luck.

Carer came this afternoon to sit with DB so I could go out. Went on a fact finding mission to look for a lightweight wheel chair. I have found one, but I need to do a reccy and see if I can find it cheaper anywhere else.

I picked up a bag of apples from the bos by the front door. They are off the trees in the garden, they will make another 2 or 3 crumbles with some other fruit.

Supper tonight, ham, with jacket spuds and a small side salad. DB might have ice cream for dessert.

UUgghh

Bad night last night, this morning DB is constantly asking for the comode..........its a case of all or nothing........drives me nuts.

Sun comes and goes, the ground was wet so we had rain overnight, temperature is quite high for November. Tonight is bonfire night, so fireworks going off from dusk until well after midnight, I can still hear them with my hearing aid out!

No plans for the day, DB is asleep just now. Message from DD2 Emilio has chicken pox!! He is also having more teeth come through, so glad I do not live at their house.

Last week DD2 and I both made sheperds pie for Thursday night, so one went in the freezer, we are having that tonight with calebrease and carrots. No dessert, finished the crumble last night.

I am hoping to get back to the machine, I need to sort out some stuff and list DBs rollator for sale. I am looking at getting a lightweight wheelchair, so I can get him out. I need some advice, there is a shop in the town, will ring them and see what they have to say. Do I rent or do I buy? I can buy one using DB's attendance allowence......... will have to see. It needs to fold up and go in the boot of the car.

Scar doing fine, will have to take the sterestrips off then I can shower and wash my hair.

Haircut

And beard trim for DB, haircut for me. Elizabeth is very kind  and comes over to cut our hair. She did ours for 10 years when we lived in Hose.

Very blustery day, wind blowing every which way, I nipped out to get the TV Choice when DB was asleep.

Better night last night, I managed to sleep on my left side. My scar is healing, should be able to remove the steri strips on Thursday. Have a couple of spectacular bruises which will fade eventually. Then I will be able to have a shower instead of a strip wash.

Supper tonight is egg salad, will finish off the crumble from the weekend.

Start of a new week

Reasonable nights sleep, the alarm woke me at 8am, prepared breakfast and waited for the carer to come and get DB up etc. I must have slept heavily, took me a while to pull myself together.

Wound ok, no sign of infection at all, hope it stays that way.  The soreness is wearing off, I have an appointment at the clinic next week to check all is well.

Prepped chicken for tonights supper with mash, carrots and calebrease, we have crumble to use up, there is enough for tomorrow. There are some blackberries left, so will use a tin of pears next week for another crumble.

I am still taking things easy, managing to avoid using my left arm too much. I am tired, a combination of my sleep pattern and the build up to the op.

DD1 and SIL withdrew their offer on the first bungalow they saw, found another one, same design but with a utility room for the washer and freezer, put an offer in and have agreed on a price £10,000 less than the first. They are waiting for the surveyors report on that one.

So

first night on my own with DB, coped ok, just have to be aware of my left arm. 

Took the dressing off, looks a bit of a mess right now and I have a bra a fetching shade of yellow from the prep liquid. However that will wash out.

The soreness has just about worn off, can see stitches and there are butterfly plasters over the top, will leave them on a bit longer till the edges look as if they have knitted.

Sunny but cool out, however the sun is warming the sitting room, I just put the heater on for an hour in the morning.......the room stays warm all day.

Prepped supper, roast pork, roast potatoes, cauli and broccoli, apple and blackberry crumble for pudding, almost finished the black berries.

 

Recovering

DD2 has gone home this morning. Her help is invaluable over the two days since I had my new pacemaker box implanted. She has taken care of DB's needs and last night went and got fish and chips for supper.

We changed the bed and the sheets are drying........ just had lunch finished a tin of beans on toast.

DD1 gave notice that they were not proceeding with the first bungalow, the survey revealed there was a lot of work needed. They went to see another one, same design and they have decided to go with it subject to survey. DSIL offered £20,000 less than the market price, they settled for £10,000, less than they were going to spend on the first one. They need to play a waiting game now, it takes ages for searches etc to be done and the contract signed. Once thats done they then have to wait for completion which will be after Christmas. So a move in the new year.

Its sunny, so no heat on, the sun is streaming through the french windows into the sitting room.

Supper tonight, quiche salad and baby poatoes, may be lemon sponge for dessert. I need to take some roast pork out of the freezer for tomorrow.
