I arrived home just before 3pm yesterday, sore but pain killers soon delt with that.

The procedure was done under local anesthetic, not painful but a dull pushing feeling, especially when he was getting the old box out. Surgeon prefered stitches to glue, I told him I hoped he was a neat sewer!! Back in the ward I sat in the chair, was given a snack lunch and eventually discharged. Driver collected me and it was back home.

Took pain killers as the local was wearing off. Two more before I went to bed, slept sitting up for 8+ hours. DD2 had looked after DB very well, he was uncomfortable, said his back ached, so he was treated to paracetamol, which he also had before he went to sleep. He now has a cushion, the nurse came yesterday, examined the red bit on his bottom, no broken skin, so left ointment and discharged him.

We had shepherds pie for supper, I had cooked it and kept it in the fridge.

All done and dusted

New pacemaker box in situ, no problems, sitting in the chair. Have to sit for an hour, then Dr's letter, ring my driver and home.

Lunch just arrived. DB is OK with DD2. The nurse has been, no broken skin, so cream left and discharged from the nurses.

Shattered

 Spent all morning sorting food etc for tomorrow as well as packing a case, just in case, although I hope tobe home by supper time. DD2 will be arriving shortly, she is staying for 3 days. two nights suppers in the fridge, just need reheating.

OT came to see DB this morning, she is arranging for a ring for him to sit on and also a different type of frame to get around with.

Our old carer was here again this morning, no idea when I will see her again.

DB has slept again most of the day. 

Supper is sausage, mash and baked beans........

Sunny

first thing, clouded over, but no rain, suuny again after lunch.

DB mush the same as usual, we had one of the old carers come this morning, it was great to see her. She had a lot of the garden stuff when we moved and she has promised to send me some photos, she is really into it.

DB has slept a lot again today, I managed a decent sleep last night and also had an hour after lunch. This morning I cooked mince for shepherd pie on Thursday, I need to do the mashed potato tomorrow and leave it in the fridge. My ironing lady came and collected a double lot of sheets etc.

Tomorrow I need to sort out a bag to take incase I have to stay overnight, the latest they can send me home is 8pm.

Supper tonight chicken salad and new potatoes, no dessert. 

Brrr

again, had the heating on first thing to bring the temberature a bit.

DB slept most of the morning, I cooked a gammon joint and also made some lentil soup for the next couple of days.

Tim came to sit with Edwin for me whilst I went to the Drs. The fact that my leg broke means I have to have another Dexa scan to see what improvement there is to my bones. So I am still on the tablets once a week on a Monday.

I did not sleep well last night so I did have a nap this afternoon, needless to sat DB slept.

Sweet and sour chicken and rice for supper with apple and blackberry crumble for dessert.

Sorry I am not a good blogger just now. I am very tired, will be glad to get my pacemeker changed and look forward to the next 10 years?

A Bit Brrrrrr

Sun shining but a bit on the cool side. Heating only on when we need it, so far an hour or so morning and night is sufficient and we still have the summer duvet on the bed.

Yesterday followed the usual pattern. Carer was late last night so we managed supper before she arrived. DB had syrup sponge for dessert.

A better night sleep, just over 7 hours, my right knee has started it nightly dance again, woke me just after 7am.

Need a quick trip to the shop round the corner for the TV Choice so DB can work out what he is going to watch.

Chicken and bacon pie for supper with new spuds and peas. will need to make some sauce to go with it. Guess DB will ask for strawberries. I do not really like buying strawberries out of season, but they do help DB's gut problem, along with blueberries on his weetabix for breakfast.
 

Dark clouds scudding in

Yesterday I got my first 2 hour sitting slot, so Aldi and QD, I got everything I wanted, even had a cup of tea and cake in QD's cafe before returning. DBhad been asleep for most of the time, he had a cup of tea. 

Carer was very late last night, supper was ready before she came.......so luke warm by the tiime we came to eat it.

We were forecast high winds and heavy rain yesterday, but it did not materialize, it appears to have hit further across. on the east coast.

This morning there was bright sun, I managed to sort out the plant trough and put in the rest of the bulbs, also took some geranium cuttings, they are still outside but will be coming in. The Christmas cactus has quite a few buds on it, so it will come in too.

Mediocre night last night so off for a nana nap.

Supper tonight fish in white sauce, mash and green peas, we have strawberries for dessert.

On its way

a massive storm, rian and high winds forecast for tomorrow, typical, I get to go out and its going to hiss it down.

No real change to DB's condition, he is just as much as a pain as he can be, he is now blaming me for allowing him to sleep during the day!! As if I could stop him.

I know lots of people do not iron their sheets etc, one thing I cannot stand is creased bed linen, I have no idea why, thats just me, I iron very little else, the occasional tee shirt or the linen skirt I have which  creases like mad.

I wish I could get back to sewing, but I just do not seem to be able to raise the energy somehow. I'm really thinking ablout selling the machine, but that creates problems, if I have more then a certain amount in a savings account I will have to pay tax on it........but all the time the machine is standing it is depreciating.......

 DB ended up haveing egg on toast last night, so I used the ham in sandwiches for lunch today, we will have the salad with chicken kiev's tonight.

Much as usual

Every day is the same, sorting out DB who is either sleeping or eating.

I have 2 hours on Thursday afternoon, so a quick trip to Aldi and then to QD for things I cannot get at Aldi and more compost to fill up the containers, take the geranium cuttings and plant the daffs. I also need to clean the step into the patio door, I have no idea where it has come from but there is mud all over it.

Order of groceries from Morrison due Thursday morning, the cost has shot up alarmingly I was spending between £35 and £40, the last 2 weeks it has been over £50, not buying anything unusual......If I did not have so much on my plate I would go back to shop at Aldi, but at least until I have got over my op there is no way.

Laundry on the airer, I have 2 lots of bed linen to go for ironing, another slice of cash, I just cannot cope with ironing huge quilt covers etc.

Supper tonight is ham salad with little potatoes, starwberries for dessert. 

A.OK

So the curtains are now back up thanks to Jeffrey. They stayed for an hour or so, Bex etc have gone to Manchester to catch a flight to Tenerife for 5 nights.

DB much the same as every other day, the social worker came to see DB I am getting extra help for several weeks after I have my pacemaker changed.

Bag came to send the two routers back to BT. So I packed them off and went up to the post office, they are on their way. I also drew enough cash to see me through November.

Cleaner Clare starts a new job in 2 weeks, she is going to continue to clean for us, coming as and when she can for which I am very grateful. Managed 61/2 hrs sleep last night, so not too bad.

Supper tonight, I did a freezer dip and found beef stew, so thats on the menu for tonight. We finished the rhubarb and apple crumble last night so no dessert tonight.

 

Tired

After all yesterday's doings, I managed to sleep for 7+ hours last night, having had 2 very bad nights previously.

Carer was late this morning, just before 9am. DB had already had his breakfast before she came.

Settled down to some kitchen work. Cleaned out the salad drawer, sorted the veg and put it back in. Prepped the veggies for tonight's supper and used up some rhubarb from the freezer, peeled and sliced an apple and made crumble topping, that will do for dessert tonight and tomorrow.

After lunch I nipped round the corner for the TV Choice and some cream. DB was asleep.

Supper tonight sausage and mash, onion gravy and some of the crumble.

Thats that done.

Lst night ended with me having to spend half an hour, getting DB from the toilet to our bed. This morning was no better, we are using the glider to move him about now and he is using the comode, it's too much like hard work getting him into the toilet. I rang social services this morning, I am going to need more help, they are coming to see us on Monday. I have started using cream on DB

DD2 and DGD brought GGS to sit DB whilst I went for my pre op checks. All done just got to wait until 30th and hope that all goes well. DD2 is staying for several days. I will be able to drive after a week, and no restriction about lifting my arms up. No shower for 2 days then just sponge over the wound. I have some medication to use in the shower for 2 days prior to the op. Was also tested for MRSA and covid........

Easier getting DB into bed tonight.......I am crackered, only had 2 hours sleep last night worrying about how I was going to cope with DBs bottom, it is beginning to get a bit red, do not want any bed sores here thank you.

So that's a catch up of the last couple of days.

Hooray

Steve is here fitting the dish washer!! At last, I do not have to wash thie dishes after each meal and I can set the machine to wash overnight, got to be good.

DB is not so clever this morning, he did manage to shuffle to the loo, but he had a bad dizzy first thing. He is getting more difficul to move.

I have heard from the carers, 2 x 2 hour slots a month on a Thursday so I can get out and know that someone is sitting with DB. Brilliant. It is part of his care package which is even better.

Tomorrow I go for my pre-op appointment for 30th October for my battery change and if I behave myself I should be home the same day. Not sure what the restrictions will be, will find out tomorrow.

Sorry

no post yesterday. Visit to get my Pacemaker checked, had the opportunity to talk to the technician aboout the replacement of the battery. I go again on Friday to get my pre op done. It should be in the next month or so.

Heard this morning that I have been given 2 hours once every 2 weeks for someone to sit with DB whilst I go out. Think it might be a Thursday after lunch, he is more likely to sleep then. Hooray, starting next week. We also both had flu and Covid jabs, so thats us done for the winter.

I was very tired yesterday, so did not post, I had a bad nnight on Monday. Better last night just over 6 hours.

The dish washer has been delivered this morning, Steve is coming to install it tomorrow...........I cannot wait. It will be so goos to just put the pots etc in the machine, put on the delay start and come through in the morning to clean dishes...........I just could not manage without one.

Cooked beef stew for supper tonight, enough cooling for the freezer for another meal.

DB continues to sleep most of the day, he did manage to stay awake last evening to watch TV programmes.

Wet

it rained during the night, and is now drizzling, everywhere is wet.

DB moaning about his knee, managed to stop him falling in the toilet, but he is getting beyond my help, I am concerned that I am due to have my pace maker changed in the next few weeks and will be banned from lifting etc for 6 weeks. Will not be able to drive either. I am thinking of seeing if I can get him into respite, it will cost me but needs must.

I was going to go out today, but decided not to, I have a PM check tomorrow, a friend is coming to sit with DB, then on Friday he will be back whilst I go for my pre op check. May be will get a date at that point.

Am doing very little except see to DB. Not sure how long I slept for last night but did have quite a long Nana nap in the afternoon.

Supper tonight cold chicken and slald with new potatos, may do rice pudding for dessert.

 

Real Autumn Morning

its chilly this morning with a faint mist hanging around, all the trees are dropping their leaves leaving skeletons behind.

Library calls this morning, DB has 9 books in I have two, plus one on my tablet........good job they book them out for 2 months!!

Bad day yesterday, I was so short on sleep by 6pm I was almost beside myself, DB got both barrels and more. He just will not make the effort to do anything else but sleep....... I did however sleep for over 8 hours last night......need more nights like that!!

I need to sort my brain out and get back to my machine.

The Ninja was collected yesterday, amazing how much space it has freed uo on the work top and in the cupboard. I have a hand mixer I can use if I need to.

No idea about supper, will get sausage out of the freezer, not sure if I have any frozen chips in the freezer, otherwise it will probably be sausage and mash.

Oh dear

I knew when I put the light out last night I was not going to drop off readily, thoughts buzzing round in my head. I was right, only managed 2+ hours, so a Nana nap this afternoon me thinks.

DB was full of the moans this morning, stomach ache, and knee hurting cannot put any weight on it.......patience wearing extremly thin!! medication administered, appears to be sleeping just now.

Some one coming to collect the food mixer this morning, so much more room on the work surface in the kitchen, have also bought 2 glass covers for the hot plate, so I can use the stove top for food prep.......

Probably salad with new potatos for supper tonight.

 

Autumn

has arrived, it is distinctly chilly this morning, people goinging about in coats.

DB is much the same, I know its his meds that make him sleepy, its just soul destroying having to sit talking to myself!!

Supper prepped, I froze some cooked mince last week in a pie dish, so cooked and mashed potatos for the top, will do some carrots and peas with it. I made an orange jelly yesterday so thats dessert sorted.

Expecting a grocery delivery this morning, need to stock up a bit. Can't do too much as we have very little storage here, the cupboard with the washer in is gradually filling up. I also cleared out more stuff making room for the dishwasher. I have a feeling there will be more once we have been here a while, anything that isn't used in a month will go out. I like to buy large packs of toilet rolls, I guess most of them will go in the bottom of the bed in the spare room.

Need to nip out and get the TV choice once DB is awake again.

We are sleeping

an awful lot, no idea if its his medication, but he can hardly keep his eyes open!!

Fine morning not too cold, so the carer tells me, I would not know have not been out for days.......

I have managed to clear the cupboard for the dish washer just waiting for approval from the powers that be, my neighbour has had one fitted so it should be ok. I have agreed to leave it installed when we leave.

Had word from my SIL yesterday, they have sold their house in a week, sent me details of the bulgalow they are hoping to buy. About 2 miles from where they live now, just 2 bedrooms and detached. It will be after Christmas before they move in, it takes ages in England, unlike Scotland where we have sold and bought within 2 weeks.

No idea whats for supper maybe steamed fish with mash and carrots. IF DB wants dessert it will be rice pudding.

 

Busy morning

It was decided yesterday that I should get a slimline dishwasher fitted in a cupboard in the kitchen. I am so shattered after looking after DB all day and cooking supper, I hardly have any energy to wash up. The one I have chosed has a timer on it so I can set it to wash on the cheap electricity at night. Just need permission to go ahead and then I can order it. The chap who put up the TV in the bedroom will do the job.

So this morning I cleared out the cupboard concerned, designated more stuff to the charity shop and chucked away stuff that I really no longer use. I also clered the saucepan drawer and one of the long drawers under the hob. I am shattered!!!

Its a bit of a dull morning, dark clouds keep flitting over, but nothing seems to happen. Both peonies are showing signs of dying back, but the Hostas are still going strong. I need some more compost to fill the large planter, have some spare bulbs to put in.

Supper tonight, belly pork and rice, DB will have a small raspberry sponge for dessert.

better morning

The heavy rain and wind has gone away to bother someone else. Its a bright sunny morning and not too cold, the usual residents are walking round the site on their daily contitutional, most with coats on.

DB spent most of yesterday asleep, then moaned he could not sleep, I was awake for a couple of hours but did manage over 6 hours.

My cleaner is here doing her usual routine, bed change so sheets in the washer. I will have to wash again tomorrow, the clothes basket is filling up.

I have come to the conclusion that I need to get rid of more kitchen stuff. I have a Ninja food processor which I have not used since we got here, need to find the book that goes with it so I can sort everything out. Will put it on the Web hopefully I will be able to sell it. That will give me more worktop space and also cupboard space.

Not thought about tonights supper, will have a freezer rake see what I can find, we will have some more of the leek and potato soup at lunch time. 

Tired

I had a couple of reasonable nights during the week, DB has woken me coughing, I find it difficult to get back to sleep

Yesterday I cooked the pork joint from the freezer, I bought before we left Grange Drive, left it in the fridge over night and sliced it today. Have some for tonights supper the rest is in packages in the freezer either for rolls or a roast supper. So for supper tonight we have roast pork, roast potatoes done in the air fryer, carrots and calebrease. Will use the water from steaming the veg to make gravy. If DB wants anything else I have treacle pudding in the cupboard.

I made a pot of leek and potato soup for lunch, enough for tomorrow as well.

Once again he has spent most of the day asleep, I nagged him into watching some of the programmes I recorded for him on the TV. He is watching the sewing bee semi final.

I have a letter for my pre op later this month to get my pacemaker changed, so have arranged for a sitter whilst I go. It should not be too long till I get my appointment.

It was a bright morning, but has clouded over this afternoon, its not warm although we have not got the heating on yet. The room temp is 21c

I don't believe it!!

last night, for the first time for ages I actually slept over 8 hours. No idea why, nothing different........ most welcome.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse, there is a heavy storm warning and its very wet, cold and windy out.

Tim is coming to collect the book marks, he will see R on Sunday at chapel, so they can settle up then. I need a quick trip round to the shop for the TV Choice for DB.......who is asleep again. That all he seems to do, wakes to go to the toilet or eat a meal and then goes back to sleep. He does manage to watch some TV in the evening, but does seem to doze off. He just does not want to engage with anything.

Nothing planned, I have just finished my second book........one more to go, I am going to have to order at least 10 to keep me going for a month on the Home Library Scheme.

Supper will be garlic chicken, new potatoes and veg. DB is now finishing all I put on his plate, which is good.

Visitor

Our hairdresser from Hose came this morning, nothing going on, despite my suggestions, he continues to spend most of his time asleep, which is very boring for me. Did a small load of washing this morning, its on the airer drying with the bedroom window open. Next week is bed change week, so two lots of sheets going to the ironing lady.

I  packaged up the dried book marks, nice and stiff, so they are ready to go. Just need to work out how much to charge for them.

Sweet and sour pork tonight for supper although I doubt DB will eat all the rice.

I spoke to a friend in Hose, Trevor was working in her garden so I had a quick chat with him. I also learnt that our next door neighbour had passed away. She was 96. Her funeral is next week.

Shopping arrived this morning, so all put away. I did manage 6+ hours last night and also a nap this afternoon, although I am still very tired.

Pinch 'an a punch

for the first of the month. A wet beginning..........

DB seems better this morning, he was a pain yesterday, asleep most of the day except when his friend came. I really need to get him to engage his brain,  have suggested several games he can look at on his tablet. Seems he just cannot be bothered..........as long as I am around he is ok.......sorry I am not, nothing more soul destroying than sitting watching someone sleep.

I have washed the stabilzer off the book marks they are laying on a towel to dry out, hopefully will get them away later this week.

No idea what to do for supper, last nights mince went down well, had enough for the base of a cottage pie which is now in the freezer, will probably use it next week. I have a couple of eggs, will hard boil them and do a salad with them.

Have some pate so will have that on toast at lunchtime with some fruit.

Still waiting to hear about someone sitting with DB whilst I get out for an hour or so.........wheels turn very slowly............
