Cloudy

Sunday was another warmer day, this morning it is cloudy, rain possible, the temperature in the apartment is 20c which is fine.

Yesterday I cut up the gammon joint I cooked on Saturday, we had some for supper with roast potatoes, cauliflower and carrots. DB had a treacle sponge for dessert. The rest of the gammon is in the freezer.

I forgot to close the washer door last night, so have done a quick wash this morning, its on the airer in the sewingroom/bedroom. Should be dry by the morning.

DB has been okish for the last few weeks, he gets dizzies but they seem to go off fairly quickly. The carer was late this morning, she had a puncture, had to get the AA out to put the spare wheel on for her. 

SIL sent me photos of the shrubs they have in the garden, wanted to know what they were, they have had the conifers cut down, he is going to dig them out. The shrubs they have are in  about the same state as the ones at Grange Drive when we moved in.....need drastic pruning. Once they have finished the inside work we will go over and I will go round the garden with him and identify the shrubs etc that are in the garden. They have a Magnolia which is in full bloom, judging by the height and number of flowers I think it might be around 10 years old.....lucky people!!

No idea whats for supper tonight, I need to put my thinking cap on, might do egg salad with some of the little potatoes.

 

Sunny again

yesterday was a cooler day, although we still did not have the heat on, as we face south the sun through the glass warms the rooms. Its sunny but only up to 13c.

Sorted out parking for Kim next week, phew, no way was I having her parking out on the road with a sewing machine in the boot. The bedroom is more or less sorted, just have to shift the walker into the wardrobe in our room. I need to have the iron out, have a couple of jumpers and a tee shirt that need a bit of a press.

I nipped down to Lidl yesterday, I may well try them for a stock up, they have a section with newspapers etc, that would save me having to go to the shop round the corner for the TV Choice.

Gammon joint cooking, I soaked some soup mix last night so when the gammon is cooked the soup mix will be chucked in the pot and cooked for soup

Supper tonight sweet and sour chicken, will finish up the trifle for dessert.

at last some warm weather

The last few days have been bright and sunny, but there has been a strong wind. Today very little wind and its due to be 15c + I have all the windows open, wish I could have the washing out, no way.........according to the powers that be thats why we have washer dryers.......so we do not spoil the aesthetics of the building by having the washing blowing on the line. Result either horrendous electric bills or damp washing hanging about. Glad we have the two bedrooms, The sewing room comes in handly for drying laundry on the airer.

We went to the coffee morning in the lounge this morning, usual people there, no notices read out manager not around.

My flowers from mothers day are still going strong, the lily has come out, but sadly does not smell. I love flowers with a scent.

Supper tonight chicken with apricots and pilu rice. not sure about a dessert as yet.

Back to wind and rain

after a few sunny spring days we are back to wind and grey skies.

Nothing much going on, DD2 came friday evening with fish and chps and a new pair of slippers for me for Mothers Day. DD1 sent flowers which included a lily. I have put that in a seperate lily vase, its on the book case the rest of the flowers are on the table.

I put DB to bed myself Friday night, I am going to ask if we can have a later call, the 5pm one really messes up our supper.

After 3 really bad nights I did manage 7.40 last night, it would have been longer but DB had the rugby on the bedroom TV.

Supper prepped this morning, roast pork from the freezer, roast potatoes, cauliflower and calebrease. We will have the last of the raspberries in jelly for dessert.

Hmm

started bright and sunny, its now raining. Very high winds everything is blowing about the poor little daffs are getting blown all around.

DB's condition remains ok, I am considering cancelling his eveining appointment and getting him ready for bed myself. Our supper times are haphazard because the time varies so much. Last night he was half way through his supper when they landed, to get him undressed, ok so they had to wait, but it stressed him quite a bit. I have already cancelled tomorrow nights visit as DD2 is coming for supper, bringing fish and chips......

I am back to not sleeping 2+ hours last night, so I am more than shattered this morning. Have cooked pork belly to do sweet and sour pork and rice tonight. Been looking at my old cook book for the recipe for rice pudding, DB may only eat a small main course but will then ask for dessert. 

Another sunny morning,

but quite chilly.

Coffee morning in the complex sitting room this morning, a couple more people than usual.

Sun shining, it is my 2 hours off this afternoon, need a few bits from Aldi and also a square tin to use in the combi microwave. The Ninja is smoking badly if I try to do roast spuds, so going back to doing them in the combi.

DB ok this morning, had a small dizzy, but they are not lasting so long.

I lost it major last night, went to put something in the fridge, an open tin with pears in and the coffee can fell out..............not just blue air but deepest purple...... and a couple of door slams, not a happy bunny. The fridge freezer is a tall one but quite narrow, I always have a problem fitting stuff in when my order comes.

Thankfully, the faulty door panel has now been replaced so hopefully no more trips in my dressing gown to let the carers in!!

Egg and chips tonight. will get something for dessert whilst I am out.

Bright morning

but it is clouding over now, looks like a blatter is coming our way.

I have been working on our budget for the next 12 months, not a lot of cash swilling around, cost of food has gone up, the car is reasonably full of fuel but the car will get £30 in, once that has run out it will be tough.

Managed to burn an onion I was cooking for a 500g container of mince, it is cooked just going slowly for some of the liquid to reduce, hopefully we will get 3 suppers from it, mince and tatties, shepherds pie and possibly Spag bol. I am going through the small freezer we have and seeing what there is. I have two small chicken breasts which I will do with apricots one night, also picked up a coouple of lamb leg steaks, will do them in the pressure cooker and possibly do a Lancashire hot pot with some of it. I am also going to have to sort out some desserts for DB. Enough beef for a couple of stews and I also picked up a piece of pork reduced. I have an unsmoked gammon joint to cook as well.

DB has been watching the disabled olympics on TV. He is asleep just now.

Off to check the mince and make a cup of tea.

Mince and dough balls tonight with mash, carrot and calebrease. No dessert.

Two pots of daffs and crocus on the patio.

Very misty this morning, took ages to go. One load of washing done and on the airer, second lot to do overnight.

DB has been having good days, occasional dizzy spells which clear quickly.

Sorting out a shopping list for my 2 hours off on Wednesday afternoon.

 

Was that all?

two days of sunny, warmish weather, this morning its dull, damp, grey and miserable.

DB woke me just after midnight saying he could not find his phone???? what, he has not had a phone for 2 years, he could not remember how to use it!! He was fast asleep, me forget it!! according to my smart watch I did not get back to sleep for over 3 hours......He is dizzy this morning, I reminded him that not drinking enough water is not good, so I am keeping an eye on him today.

I actually managed half an hour on my machine yesterday, the lady who ordered 10 to take to South Africa for Christmas presents forgot someone, so needs an extra one.

I did something I have never done before, I had wound a bobbin and put it in, could not understand why the stitching was 'off' eventually decided it was the bobbin, took the cover off and I had put it in the wrong way round....aarrggggg..... purple mist......

DD2 and SIL arrive in Barbados at 10am local time this morning, not sure if they are staying overnight or flying straight back. They are coming back to a bungalow that needs unpacking finished!! They appear to have had a good time, SIL goes very brown, DD2 not so much, she is fair skinned like me.

Supper tonight, fish and chips, we finished the Christmas pudding last night, so it will probably be lemon cheese cake tonight for dessert.

Has spring arrived?

The last few days it has been qiote sunny and warm. The daffs etc are out in the two pots I planted up, tulips also signs of coming up.

Tim is coming to collect the bookshelvesWe went over to Hose today for co ffee so apart from some plastic containers that will be the 2nd bedroom sorted. I have bought another roller storage unit which will allow me to free up more storage from under the tables and give me a bit more leg room. I am hoping to get back to more sewing as the weather gets better, DB will be able to sit with the door open to the patio and see whats going on outside.

I managed 9 hours sleep Monday night and 8 hours 30 last night, wonder how long it will last???

Inspection was done yesterday, all is well for another 6 months.

I am doing small chicken breasts with new spuds and peas tonight. I have some Christmas pudding left which will do us tonight and tomorrow. It was in the hamper that DD2 gave us at Christmas.

DD1 and SIL back on Saturday from the Caribbean cruise thay are on, they have just left Antigua en route for their last port of call before sailing back to Barbados and flying back to the UK. Once they get home they have their new home to sort out.
