What a morning......

carer was  very late coming, she had problems all round. I had edwin up washed and dressed, he was eating his breakfast. Its not something I want to do regularly, getting him up, washed and dressed finishes me off for the rest of the morning.

DB had been nagging about me getting the shed etc collected, so I phoned the council and booked the collection for next Monday.  DGS and partner came to collect some of the stuff for the garden, she espied the shed Trevor had broken down........spoke to a friend who had fallen on hard times and was looking for storage for her garden......to cut a long story short, it looks like she will have the shed, so I will have to contact the council.

DGS went up in the loft and brought everything down so the sitting room is now packed with boxes. I am going to put them in the back of the car and take them over to the flat tomorrow after the people have looked round here.

Went to sit down for my lunch, oh ouch, my back on the left hand side decided that it was not happy and really let me know, its a good job I was standing against the door otherwise I might have ended up on the floor.

Supper tonight, egg salad with the last of the rhubarb for dessert.

Rain

we have that nasty drizzling rain which wets you through more quickly than heavy rain.

Today we sign for the flat/apartment, Laura is coming later this morning to sort everything out and hopefully I will get the keys. DB is moaning he keeps getting dizzy, I told him if he stops winding himself up he will be much better. I did manage to get him in the car to take the old microwave to the tip.........

So things will start hotting up from here on, we have 4 people coming to see the bungalow on Friday, I will endevor to have shifted some of the crates etc out of the sewing room into the boot.......even if I cannot get to take them up to the flat.

DB decided to fill his mouth so full last night he choked.....lovely. I was so cross with him, at this rate evrything he eats will have to be pureed.

Supper tonight beef stew, stewed to death, carrots and sweet corn, there is some rhubarb for desser with some ice cream. 

Sorry

Sorry I missed yesterday, it was a stressful day, cleaner and Trevor here and DB up to his usual tricks. Sunday finished with my trusty combi micro having a fit and not working, I ended up using the oven, which has never been used since we moved in.

I ordered a new microwave which came this morning, Having a problem setting it up......no instruction book, its all on line and does not make sense, I want to install the clock.......

We have 4 people coming on Friday to view the bungalow, its like a tip, but just cannot be bothered, nor can I be bothered to do the extrodinary clean they are asking to be done when we move out. When they expect me to do it I really do not know, we had to clean it when we came in, it is now in very good condition, just need to take the shelves down, the TV off the wall and fill the holes in. It will be empty fron 15th August to 4th September.........

Sausage and mash for supper, its what DB has asked for, so thats what he will get.

Hell on Earth

yesterday was the worst day I have ever had in my life. DB just kept on and on about what needs doing, the the people came to pick up the composter......it was in bits and they were able to get it into their car. DB then hobbled to the kitchen door, I told him to go and sit down, took him back in, 5 minutes later he was back to the door swaying like he was drunk going on about the plastic tiles that link together to make a path, I just could not help myself, I should think they heard me in the town scream at him to go and sit down..........did he do it, no..........I waited till the people had driven away and then let hin have it with both barrels............I went to grill the gammon for tea, the grill on the combi was not working and after I had cooked the gammon in the frying pan, DB decided he could not chew it..................it was more than a red rag to a bull..............I lost it completely................. had my hand on the phone to arrange to get him a place in a home, at that moment I could quite cheerfully walk out under a bus!! I have spent over 40 years looking after him and his selfish ways......no consideration about what he is doing to my health, mental or otherwise...............I have consistantly told him the effect he is having on me........he ignored it........threats just do not work, he completely disregards them.......

I think he did get the message eventually when I ignored him until it was time to go to bed. Got him into bed, I read for a while and then put the light out, he was reading, tough luck I was tired and needed to sleep. I had taken my hearing aids out, so could not hear him chuntering. 

I did manage 8 hours+, completely exhausted. This morning he is very quiet...................we will see how today pans out. I have contacted social services for a list oh local homes that have vacancies..........

Cooler

cooler morning, rain threatening, but not come to anything yet.

Sewing room packing continues apace, shelves now empty so they can be taken down, not sure what I am going to do with them yet.

DB continues with his everlasting queries.......I just walk away and he gets the message.

A new carer this morning, she was late coming but better late than 7.30am.

Quiet day, no plans to do anything except cook the supper later.

Hot again

 woke up this morning to bright sunlight, its 30c at the moment, not bad, but hope it does not go any higher.

Went to draw cash this morning,  GGD and her mum called re the strawberry planters, she will also take what ever plant pots we have too so the ceramic ones will be emptied ready for her to take.

Carer was a bit late this morning, not as late as yesterday though, we had a lady in the morning and a man at night.

DB continues to shower me with questions........I have taken my hearing aids out so I cannot hear him so well...... I need to do something to preserve my sanity, this morning it was about what we do with the washer if its not sold by the time we move...........4 weeks away....I did have a query about it this morning, despite me putting on the notice that it would not be available until after 1st August.

Fish and chips tonight......raspberries in jelly for dessert.

This time next week

we should have the keys to the flat. Agent dealing with letting the bungalow, came this morning and took photos of the garden. I have also asked her if she would ask the landlord if he would purchase the dishwasher and washing machine. I am not holding my breath.

Its quite a dull day, there is also a breeze.

Another bad night last night 5 1/2 hours. The carer was very late this morning, there was a problem with her previous patient. I had got DB up and started to wash him when she arrived.

It was a busy morning, grocery delivery, agent to photograph the garden and the ironing lady with the sheets. I told her we were moving next month will send her the new address when we have moved.

Sausage and mach with onion gravy for supper tonight, used up the frozen raspberries in jelly for dessert.

 

Sun

shining brightly when the carer rocked up at 7.30am, he woke me up, was not happy. He said he would go and come back later, no way......so he got DB up and as I expected he had a vertigo attack......which is what happens if he gets up too quickly.

It clouded over after breakfast, a cooling breeze, so not bad. I need to apply myself to the sewing room, I have a couple of crates to pack some stuff in that I can take over, will leave the heavy stuff for the movers. The Luni is in its bags, no way am I taking that myself. There is stuff ready for the gardening group, if they do not collect it in the next couple of weeks it will go to the tip.

I did have a decent night last night, could do with the same tonight, fingers crossed.

I only had one suggestion from DB yesterday, he did go to the door apparently to take in a parcel, but apart from that he just walked round with his stick. It will be much better in the flat, there is a lot more room for him to walk. He can use the ensuite toilet at night if he needs it, during the day he can use the walk in shower room off the hall.

Despite me classing the rest of this month as a 'no spend' I have had to buy him new pants and also 2 new night shirts. When he gets undressed he pulls stuff over his head by gripping the collar, all his night wear has ripped along the collar seam, I have repaired them a number of times, but now they have had it, nothing left to repair........

Trying to use down the stuff in the freezer so I can empty the garage freezer........Have not ordered any frozen stuff on the grocery order this week, we need to eat down what we have got. The freezer can then be cleaned out and collected. Something else gone.

Supper tonight is salad, I have some cold roast pork, will do DB an egg. I know he will not eat the pork, I will get the 'I can't chew it'.

Another bad night

I ended up going to sleep about 4am, was awake again at 7am, so got up for a shower. I had a Nana nap this afternoon and felt dreadful when I woke up.

This morning I went back to Hose for a hair cut, back to a short back and sides........I will have to wash it in the shower.

Yesterday it poured with rain, I dashed out to recuse the washing, most of it was dry. When I came in I found DB in the kitchen, even though I had told him to stay where he was.......I lost it completely............... words were spoken I never thought I would utter.... not that it has made an difference, he does know now that if he falls,it will be hospital and then a nursing home, he just refuses to tow the line and be sensible. His attitude is affecting me quite badly, hence not being able to sleep. It is demoralizing.

I have started on the list letting people know we are moving 26 different companies to contact. Some I cannot do until we have moved. I set the ball rolling this morning with BT to transfer out broadband.and a note to the council and registrar for voting. Searchers for financial companies etc use the voting register to check you live where you say you do.

Just 10 days till we sign for the flat, and then another couple of weeks before we move in.......

Supper tonight, chicken and veg casserole......something else out of the freezer eaten up. Banana and ice cream for dessert.

Awake early

this morning so got up and started breakfast. Left just after 8am to collect Trevor. Carer was still here when I got back. Trevor clearing the garage and starting to demolish various things in the garage. He is taking more stuff for his sister.

Had to park across the road, next door has two vans on the front. I moved it when the carer left.

The sun was belting down when I went out, but its clouded over, have some washing to go out, although DB says its going to rain leter, if so it will have to go through and spin and then into the dryer.

Garage is looking very empty, just the stuff to go with us by the door.

We will move the plants next week over to Lilians

Dull and much cooler

this morning, it was rather muggy after all the rain last night, did not sleep very well, not expecting to tonight either, I have to set the alarm to get up to fetch Trevor. we need to get a shift on and move the garden stuff. I am hoping the allotment people come again and collect more stuff, otherwise it is going on the front and people can take what they want. My Grandson also needs to come and collect the strawberry planters out of the way, and get some stuff down from the loft.

I need to sort out what to do with the lawn mower store and also the large box with all the plant pots in. Will try facebook first....... before getting someone in to collect it for the tip. I am going to put all the empty plant pots in a large black bag and take them to the pot dump at QD. people can help themselves for free.

Expecting DD2 after lunch with GGS. I need to prep the potatoes for tonights supper, ham with parsley sauce, roast spuds, peas and sweet corn. Strawberries and ice cream for dessert.

Rain

it was spitting with rain when we got up, by the time I was ready to go out it was chucking it down and continued to do so until about 2pm this afternoon.

Went to the library to pick up books, I managed to get 8 which will keep me going until we are nearer moving. I went on to put some things into the charity shop and to QD to pick up some stuff for the flat. Bought a mop which can be used to go over the laminate floors and get the dust up, it can also be wet to clean the bathroom and shower room floors which are tiled. A couple of new containers for breakfast cereal and cleaner for the electric hob.

I did manage a decent sleep last night but very tired this afternoon so had a nana nap. Have sweet and sour chicken for supper, the carer will be here after 5.30. 

I am still waiting for my driving license to come back, I deliberately sent it in early.

Once the rain stopped it became very muggy and close, open windows do not make much difference.

 

Thunder storms

 and heavy rain forcast, flood warnings in place........how wonderful.

I got my tablet back yesterday, it had been updated, so I am having to put information in, keeps throwing my passwords out.

DB continues to be a pain in the neck....what new.........

I did take the pictures down yesterday, all the photos have been stored and the frames are going to the charity shop tomorrow when I go to the library.

Nothing much planned for today, I will continue to sort out the sewing room, I also need to go down to the shop and see if they have any boxes I can have, I have decided that most of the crystal is going. I collected preserve jars.......for jam and marmalade. There are some things I want to keep, will have to find somewhere to store them.

Supper tonight, fish and chips, banana and ice cream to follow.

Cool and cloudy

Agent came yesterday to check over what needs doing. In the afternoon I got a message with a screed of stuff that needs doing when we move out...... including washing the walls down!! I do not think so. They definately were not done when we moved in.......nor were a lot of other things they want us to do......well they can just get on with it. The house will be clean and tidy and thats it. I am beyond caring, the landlord has been unco-operative throughout the time we have been here........

DB and I had words again yesterday..........I am really fed up with his constant moaning especially about getting the pictures down and repairing the walls. I am going to take the photos off the living room wall todeay, take the photos out and send the frames to the charity shop along with several apirs of trousers which still have some life in them, but are now too big for me.

Dull morning and nice and cool. Email from Samsung, my tablet is on its way back, so I now have to set it up again as it will have had a factory reset......notlooking forward to that.

Supper is egg salad, have a delivery coming this morning, trying to keep the spend under £40, just managed it this week.

Inspection

The letting agent is due this morning to see what needs addressing by the landlord when we move out next month. There is quite a bit needs attention all of which has been reported, but been ignored.

Its a better morning, grey clouds scudding across the sky, rain forecast. We had quite a down pour for most of yesterday.The ground is so hard the rain water just ran off, not much of it would soak in.

Load of washing in, I am going to hang it out, just starting on the new laundry plans, a small load every 3rd day, that way if I need to I can dry it in the washer. Otherwise I wouls have to unload half and put it back in when the first load was dry....... pain in the butt.......

Have just made the last of the chicken into chicken and apricot sandwich filling for rolls at lunch time.

DB is sleeping just now, he did not get up too well this morning. I really will be glad when we have more room to move in the new flat. only the bedroom carpet to worry about.

Supper tonight pork and rice with peas. We finished the jelly last night so lemon sponge if he wants it.

Yesterday everything was confirmed for our move, disappointed the washer belongs to the building owners, not the landlady we are renting from, so the washer will have to go, will advertise it after 1st August, I can use the washer in the flat then, can leave the washing on an airer in the 2nd bedroom to dry. 

Ouch lady came to do our feet this morning, I was in the shower, had her coming tomorrow.........she did DB's feet first.  She agreed that the hard skin on the inside of my toe is from the next toe nail, so she has cut it back and filed the hard skin away.

It has just started to rain, do not think it will be much though.......the cord on the window blinds has stuck, cannot open the blinds properly, the agent is coming tomorrow, so will report it to her whilst she is here.

Ding dinner tonight. I have cut our food budget right down, so these will be the last few ding dinners for a while. More stress on me, but we are going to need some extra cash once we move into the flat. I was going to order blackout liners for the curtains, but I can buy black out curtains cheaper. To be honest I am not a fan of the curtains that are in the flat. The bedroom ones will do for a bit but the living room ones need changing. Elephants are not my bag. I will have 2 pairs of curtains from here to get rid of. Will try and sell them otherwise it will be the charity shop. I am working on emptying the garage freezer so it can go to its new home. Hopefully the freezer at the flat will take some of it, hope they do not switch it off when they empty the flat.

Sunny but cool

yesterday was a cool day, periods of sunshine interspersed with cloud, much nicer.

Trevor is in the garage sorting stuff out ready to go to the allotment, and stuff to go out, the black bin is filling up. I found a lid I had been looking for this morning......I thought it had been thrown away. Cleaner Clare is having the bread maker and also the new baking tins which have not been used.

DB has twice been told to zip it this morning, I told him 3 strikes and he is out!!!

Sheets in the washer, they will dry on the line.......ironing lady will collect them next week. Then they will be going to the laundry.

Bad night last night, just 2 hours sleep, should do better tonight, I never sleep well on Sunday night, I have to get up early to do DB's breakfast and go over to collect Trevor.

Same supper as last night, chicken salad, oranges in jelly for dessert.

 

Blessed cool!!!

A bank of cloud that was not due hit us, has, its blessedly cool this morning with a refreshing breeze........yesterday was not as bad as Friday thankfully........ 

Hopefully I will get the all clear tomorrow from the agents, I can then start thinking about practicalities. DD2 is coming the night we move in with supper and will help me unpack some more of the boxes. She is a star, gives us so much support.

We will be watching the tennis this afternoon, yesterdays ladies final was a bit of a dmap squib.......hope todays will be better.

We are eating mostly salad at the moment. I cooked chicken yesterday, will slice it this morning and we will have chicken salad tonight for supper.

 

Just one more day

after today and the temperature will go down a bit....it was 30+ here yesterday.

Had to have serious words with DB asking when various things were going to happen, he wants me to start packing, I have told him, no way, not until we have signed the lease on 1st August. There are things I am going to have to let go, like a brand new set of baking tins I have never used, baking is beyound me, DB does have a sweet tooth, but I do not indulge him.

I went to the library this morning, picked up books for both of us, so they will keep us going for a while. Saturday is a good morning to go.

Ham salad for supper tonight, we ended up with cheese on toast last night, the heat even then, was really oppresive. Just a sheet over us until 5am, when I woke cold, so pulled the quilt up. Better night, I was exhausted when we went to bed so did not read, mamanged just under 8 hours.

Hot, hot, hot

9am and its roasting, even hotter than yesterday at the same time. Fans have been going constantly, just slept with a sheet over us, although it was after 3am before I dozed off.

DPD are coming to pick up my Samsung tablet this morning, hopefully it will not be away too long, have been relying on my telephone for various things.

Its Friday so fish and chip day........ 

Up early

waiting for a collection by BHF of the ironing machine I bought 2 years ago and no longer use.

Its a very bright morning, I have the fan on in the sitting room and the curtains drawn.

Yesterday was quiet, hopefully once the iron is collected and the grocery order delivered it will continue to be quiet. I need time to relax. DB continues to go on about things that I need to do. I keep telling him there is nothing I can do now until financial clearance comes through. The removers estimate came through, about what I expected, prices have gone up since we moved here 14 months ago.

Yesterday I managed to turn up the second pair of joggers, not an excellent job but good enough.......I need to remember that DB, like me has shrunk with age.

Supper tonight is egg salad, eggs cooked, sitting in cold water, once they are cool I will put them in the fridge till we need them.

although the sun is shining, its forecast to be hotter this afternoon. A quieter day if DB stops asking me questions he has asked before.......

I am hoping that the checks go through before I pay the rent next week....otherwise DB will have something else to moan about.....

Plan to relax if DB will let me. Pasta for supper tonight.......strawberries for dessert.
 

Another busy morning

carers came at 7.30 this morning, DB was still asleep, so I had to wake him up, need to tell the agency we do nat want a call before 8am.

I had an appointment to get my hearing tested, have new aids, need new bottom pieces to go in my ear, they will come through the post in a couple of weeks.

After sorting that out I had to drive into Melton to the estate agents to put the paper work in for the new apartment, we have to wait now whilst they check we can afford to live there and is we are suitable, not likely to trash the place etc, so fingers crossed everything comes back ok.

Had to leave DB, he was ok apparently he fell asleep....... so all was well.

Very windy, although the sun is shining, not so hot as it has been, much nicer, although it is supposed to get warmer towards the end of the week.

Egg and chips for supper tonight........DB may have a sponge pudding for dessert.

Busy morning

Collected Trevor as usual. DB told him about our move, he has started to sort out pots etc, emptied the strawberry containers and postted up some pots we are taking with us. Next week, he and I will tackle the garage and I will take the spare pots we have to QD to the pot exchange.

Its cooler today after the rain we had yesterday, apparently it rained during the night as well although I did not hear it. Another decent night 8+ hours.

I have the forms to try again to send them off, and also the holding deposit.

DB requested sausage and mash tonight, so thats what he has got. He had the remains of the leek and potato soup at lunch time with a round of bread. 

Rain

we woke to heavy rain this morning, its sort of fizzled out now and the sun is trying to break through. Its still rather muggy.

DB seems to be okish this morning, have had to have words about a few things, but hopefully he will stop his everlasting pressure.......he is reading the book I got him from the library just now. Will be watching the tennis later.

I have a couple of ding roast dinners for today...... that is the last of them, next week I will cook the large pork joint and slice it, I can use the meat for sarnies or roast dinners. I am going to empty the freezer in the garage so cleaner Clare can collect it. I also need her hausband to fill in the holes we made putting up the TV in our bedroom.

So roast lamb dinner today, DB has stawberries for dessert.

but a strong breeze. Continued problems with trying to sign paper work........will have another go tomorrow see what happens. DB was driving me mad wanting me to do things, was ready to chuck a bucket of water over him at one point. He keeps asking about things we have already discussed. Last night he had a nightmare about removing the picture hooks in the sitting room.........They are not on hooks, but pins, easy to get out. He woke me at 5pm moaning about them.

I managed to get to the library this morning 2 books for him and one for me.........

He is asleep just now, when he wakes up I am going to take him up the garden to see which pots I am taking and which are going to L across the road, to put on her drive. Its a very small patio we havej just enough room for a couple of chairs and a few pots. I have some small lavender plants I want to pot a couple up into a medium pot to take. Trevor will be here on Monday, I will get him to move the pots and aslo sort out the garage. The Round table people will be coming for some more stuff, I need to get it sorted into one place.

Supper tonight shepherds pie with carrots and sweetcorn.

Frustrated

Sun is out 24 at the moment....too hot. I am trying to sort out the paper work for the new flat, everything is on the internet and it would not let us sign the documents they sent through........DB keeps asking various things and is also driving me up the wall. I have enough on my plate without him wanting to know about sorting the garage!! Its 6 weeks before we move. 6 weeks today we should be watching the removal men bring our furniture in!!

Yesterday was spent mostly changing things and decided what to do with various bits and pieces. Again DB kept chawping in and distracting me. Also the techie has advised me to send the tablet back to Samsung, I rang their help line, ended up finishing the call, could not understand what the chap was on about. The call was intercepted and re-routed, possibly to India or some such. I am packing the tablet up and sending it by courier back to Samsung.

Tonight is fish and chip night, so I will be cooking fish and chips later.

 

The sun is back

This morning the sun was blaring out once again, the sitting room was hot, so curtains and blinds closed.

DB did very well yesterday, he is now walking with a stick, needs to get a bit more confident.......We went to look at a flat I had previously looked at whilst he was in hospital, it is a ground floor, with french windows and the car is parked right at the front of the french windows. DB managed to walk round and look and then sat in a chair whilst I talked business. There were other people waiting to view it, but this morning the agents rang to say we have to fill in the forms for the affordabilty check, they are going to email them to me.

So we will be moving from here on 14th August to take up our new home in Catherine Place, a MaCarthy and Stone development in Melton.

It has become obvious since we both had health issues that this bungalow was no longer a good fit.

So the plan is we sign for it 1st August and move in 15th........gives us time to move light stuff and clear the garden and finish getting rid of the excess in the bungalow. We are staying in the guest room overnight at the complex over night of 14th. I have the removers coming on Monday to give us an estimate. I am also going to get him to take the Fridge freezer to my daughter who wants it, the garage freezer is going to my cleaner. Just have a washer, dish washer and dryer to sort.

A couple from a charity in Melton came this morning and took a laod of gardening stuff from the garage, they are also taking the composter. I have to choose which pots I am going to take with us. I would like to take a camelia and a peony if I can. Will be sad to see most of my pots go.

Thank Goodness

The sun is absent today, and a cooling breeze, we have been forecast rain. I got really hot yesterday, developed my heat rash which has gone down a bit over night, hopefully it is disappear today.

We have things going on just now, rather distracted.....will reveal later just what is happening.

DB has walked a short distance on his own this morning, I am going walk him out of the front porch door to see if I can get him into the car!!

Cooked a gammon joint this morning, will carve it when its cold, will be having gammon and salad tonight.
