We should have webbed feet

It has been an awful rainy day again, 3pm and the sitting room lights are on. 

We went to Hose for the coffee morning. DB has been OK the last two mornings. It was Joyce's 96th birthday, we were treated to birthday cake and also given a cup cake each to bring home. It rained all the way there and home again, and it's still raining, at least it is not snow.

So far this week I have not slept for more that 5 hours for the last 3 nights........I need a decent night's sleep!!

Supper tonight chicken Kiev, baked tomato and new potatoes. We will have the cup cakes for dessert.

The sun is a shining

to welcome the day, with a hey ho of to the fair.....except there is no fair just the local market causing the usual snarl up in the town.

Its quite windy, carer said it was not too cold, certainly warmer than yesterday.

Fed up with DB complaining about his tablet so struggling to sort out my old samsung tablet for him.........

Laundry up to date, last load drying on the airer in the second bedroom. I need to have the iron on to press a pair of trousers and also the bits for Sora's cardigan, I need to sew it up and knit the ribbed button band.

Supper tonight, salmon, baby potatoes and peas.

I need to finish loging our spending etc up to date, March will soon be with us and hopefully lighter evenings. I really hate the winter the dark days really depress me.......

No idea

Why the previous post did not come up as it should. Its now Monday, and it cannot make its mind up if its raining or sunny, keeps coming over with dark clouds and then the sun shines. The account locked me out, had to go through hoops to get back in......I am also trying to set up my old tablet fpr DB, the one he has is so slow.

Early call this morning, a carer we have not seen since before the new year....... DB had a VM and then fell asleep!!! He seems to be having them more frequently just now, often with a dizzy attack straight after.

Have been sorting out some banking bits this morning, needed to sort out our savings accounts, have rolled them all into one.

Mum and baby are home, E does not seem to be really bothered about the new arrival, just looked and then walked off.

Supper tonight mince and mash with veggies.

Wet, wet, wet

 We woke to rain and a telephone call from the carers, our carer for today had called in sick, so visit could be anytime. However they arrived just after 9am.

DB having dizzy spells when he wakes up.

Around 10.30 am I heard shouting, but unable to see any one, 10 minutes later 2 fire engines rolled up to the bungalow in front of us on the left. Firemen rigged up against smoke which was pouring out the garage........they were here for over an hour and have been back to check, no idea what the problem was.

New baby still in hospital, brother was taken in to see him yesterday, took one look and walked away!! Obviously not impressed.

I am on the last sleeve of the cardigan for Sora, will have it to sew up and knit the button band and sew it on. Knitting it reminded me of the hours I have spent knitting for my own children and also numerous friends and relatives offspring. Also cardigans, jumpers, hats, gloves and even socks.........my grandma used to knit my winter socks before I went to senior school. I also remember itchy knitted vests.......my first ever attempt was to knit a jacket for my baby cousin, I was 10. At around 14 I was on holiday at my great aunts in Sussex, I was given a kit for a chunky knit cardigan for my birthday. I knitted it in a week, it was bright red. I was given bright yellow wool to knit a second one, finished it on the train going home!! Neither of my girls knit........weird that.

Supper sausage and bean casserole with mash, DB will have a banana for dessert.

Funny weather

it was fine when we got up, then it started to rain and continued heavily for a couple of hours. We now have sunshine and blue sky, but its freezing.

Cleaner came this morning, so we changed the bed, the sheets etc are in the washer to wash over night, tomorrow I will wash and try the towels on the night setting.

DB has has several days when he has had episodes when getting washed and also after he has changed his clothes for bed. No idea why, but its getting tiresome

Supper tonight is egg and chips, I forgot to order fish yesterday so it will have to wait until next Thursdays order. 

Better night

 I managed over 8 hours last night, wonders will never cease!!

Today was my 2 hour respite, so a visit to Aldi, the library and Boyes. I bought some double knitting wool to knit a cardigan for the new baby due this weekend. Chickened out and bought blue!!

Carer came and sat with DB, she got him ready for bed before she left, so she will have an early finish.

Cheese pie and beans for supper, we have not had it for ages. I have a problem getting strong cheese for it so used two different ones. Red Leicester and cheddar.

I have started the  cardigan for Soar....... hopefully I will get it finished before he gets too big to fit in it. Apparently he is longer than Emilio was.

Rain..........

It has rained most of the day. Carer was very late this morning, so DB was very late getting up, so the day has been very slow.

The new baby, Soar arrivedt his morning 10 10am.so life is going to be interesting at DD2's from now on.

I started knitting a cardigan for the baby last night, back and almost one front done. Its ages since I did any knitting, had  job to find the right needles.

Supper, quiche and salad with baby potatoes, DB had a banana for dessert, I had some grapes.

Bad night with DB, so did not get much sleep. Carers was late. Steve came to look at the jobs that need doing and Issy came to do our feet, s a busy day one way or another.

Rain

Its been a wet day. DB has had a bad day, a dizzy, not had one for ages, somI have run round doing the chores so I was in the sitting room whilst he slept it off.

The lady came with the library books, so we both have something to read.

Supper, mac and cheese, I will have some cold chicken with mine. 

Heavy frost

But all the snow has gone. Carer was late, but she did ring and let me know.

I seem to be getting into the  nana nap syndrome, fell asleep for an hour or so after lunch.

We spoke to DR'S sister yesterday, she was staggered that we had contributed to Sam's Go Fund Me. He has sarcoma in both lungs, the treatment he is on means he has an infusion of a drug which costs £5,000 a shot. He is on a 6 week turn around. The treatment is for 2 years.........the cost approximately £150,00. We sent the contribution in memory of DB's brother in law, who died from dementia on new years eve. He was Sam's Grandfather. The fund stands at £24,000 just now. 

We are having pork, salad and potato wedges for supper. 

The snow did arrive

but not much, Nottingham was much worse, it started to rain early this mmorning and what snow we did have here has gone. Apprently the roads are horrendous though.

A quiet day, we had acknowlegement of the payment we made in memory of  DB's brother in law. I also spoke to his SIL on the phone, she was blown away.

It is still early but getting dark.

Fish and chips for supper tonight, fresh fruit for dessert.

No snow

although according to the forecast we are to have high winds and blizzrds over the next 24 hours.

I have collected the car, all sorted, and he put a new battery in my key fob, very good of him. T took me down to collect it, he went off to his mothers and I drove back to the apartment. DB was just finishing his lunch which I had left him.

Only 2 hours sleep last night so had to have a nana nap this afternoon, still feel shattered.

I have just sent off a donation to Sams fund for treatment of his sarcoma, its costing £150,00 for 2 years treatment. He is DBs great nephew. His dad is db's nephew. 

Mince and tatties for supper, we are having fresh pears for dessert.

Took the car to the garage, have left it there, we are going to have to make an effort and go for a run at least once a week to keep the battery charged up.

It had rained in the night, no snow left, but it's blooming cold. Forecast is for heavy snow tomorrow..

A reasonable night, yesterday was a bad day for me, so quite pleased I slept OK.

I had some salad left in the crisper drawer so we are having salad tonight. I bought pears the last time I was out, so we will gave one each tonight. I has also made soup with leftovers in the fridge and liquor from cooking the gammon, it was very good, there is enough for tomorrow's lunch left, will cook a part baked baguette to have with it.

Yawn.........

Feeling very tired today. I have been out, needed to post a card to DB'S sister, the snow is still here, but does seem to be melting.

Not a happy bunny, I had to get DB up, guess the carers are having trouble on the roads, many of the country lanes are like a skating rink. When I went to go out in the car a message came up the battery needs charging! I now have to find somewhere that will charge the battery without taking it out. If its taken out the computer needs to be re set.......

Egg and chips tonight, I have stock to make soup for lunch tomorrow, supper will be mince and tatties. We have finished the mince pies, will have to find something for dessert tomorrow.

More snow

over night, enough to cover the ground and it is still below freezing. Busy morning, carer was late, understandable, Hairdresser came early and M Came to collect the laundry........

Cooked a gammon joint in the Ninja, put leeks in as well as carrot and onion, will make leek and potato soup for tomorrows lunch.

Sun is out, it is helping to heat the sitting room, although I have had to close one curtain, DB cannot see the TV.

He had a bad day yesterday, better this morning, beard shaved off, hair cut, I have had my haircut as well. E. very kindly does it for us, she has two cancelattions so came early which was good.

Sausage and mash with veggies tonight, using up the last of the veg from Christmas, I lft a long stalk on the calebrease and stood it in a glass of water in the fridge, it has kept really well. We will have a couple of mince pies for dessert.

Brrrr

very cold day, has not reached no freezing all day at the moment it is -1, we are forecast snow from tonight into tomorrow morning. The carer said the roads were horrendous, none of the side roads had been gritted nor had the bus route.

DB had quite a long AS this morning, he has slept until lunch time and then for a couple of hours after. He is awake at the moment. 

Supper tonight roast pork and veggies, DB will have a banana and ice cream for dessert. I am not having any, have eaten too much chocolate over the holiday.......need to slow down a bit.

Bed changed yesterday ironing is ready for collection tomorrow morning, will put another load of washing in to do over night tomorrow.

Another brrrrr

No fresh snow but some of the bungalows still have snow on the roof.

I did go,out to the car to take the shopping bags out, it was freezing, although the sun was shining.

DB has watched a few films on TV over the last couple of days, yesterday he watched Ben Hur..........today, The eagle has landed.

 I have spent most of the day reading, my knees have been a bit of a problem since it got so cold, have resorted to some Ibrufen gel. Last night they woke me doing a fandango, it's ages since that happened. It is 12 months at the end of this month since I broke my left leg............ my goodness a lot can happen in a year. I never expected DB to deteriorate as he has done.

Ding supper tonight, sweet and sour chicken with rice. 

I have roast pork for tomorrow.

Brrrrrr

We woke this morning to snow, just a light covering, but enough to cause several crashes on the A46 and M1.

The temperature went up during the morning, most of the snow has now disappeared.

A very slow day, there is no real purpose in life just now, it's the same routine day after day, gets very boring.

Supper tonight, fish and chips, home cooked, various things available for dessert, depends what DB feels like.
