Another sunny day

 it is forecast to get up to 20c this week, I have laundry in am going to see if I can manage to get it on the whirly in the garden. Lady has just been to collect the ironing, I love freshly ironred sheets etc on the bed.

This morning I am going to start on my sewing room, sorting out the fabric that is going to Linus, I also have a Brother A60 sewing machine to sell as well as a scan and cut which has never been used. I want to liquidate some cash. I am hoping to move one of the bookcases out, thus making some extra space. After I have sorted the sewing room it is the turn of the garage, with some help from Trevor who is starting back next week. I am keeping both of the sewing?embroidery machines for now, eventually, if we have to move into a smaller property, I will keep the smaller one and will be selling my big one.

I aim to sell off the excess stuff from the garage as well. We have made the decision not to buy any plants this year, so I have excess flower pots to go. I am going to put the plastic ones at the gate for anyone who wants them to take, there are several very large ones to go. There is also a plastic grow house and a cold frame which we will no longer use. At last DB has realised that his gardening days are over, so I am going to donate the seeds we have.

My knees are both protesting this morning, even though its dry and fairly warm. I have remade the physio appointment I missed, its next week. That is going to be a busy week starting from this Friday when they are replacing both gas and electric meters. So a week of chaos ahead.

We have scones left from Mothers Day so will have afternoon tea today to finish them up. We can have a light supper if we need it later this evening.

Washer has finished so need to tackle putting it on the whirly........

Done it

 went out in the car this morning and drove round the square, backed the car in, the bleeper sounded, so I stopped and got out the car. It felt a bit strange, the reverse has been switched round to the place it was in my old Fabia, so much easier.

Shattered now, so going to pout my feet up for an hour. DB is having a snooze, we miss the hour we lost, but it will be later getting dark.

This coming week I have two jobs to do, fill in and return some forms and also tackle the mess that is the sewing room, there is stuff in there I need to put in the garage and also fabric that needs sorted for the Linus ladies. We have a house inspection booked for 7th April, so it needs to be tidy by then. I am going to have a shot at putting the little Brother machine on to sell it. Will have to take a big loss on it but it has to go.

Saturday

Very tired this morning, managed just over 7 hours. Mothers day gift from DD2 and family, Cornish cream tea, so we will have afternoon tea and a snack for supper.

I have driven the car, just up the drive to its usual parking spot, hoping to go for a short drive either later today or tomorrow.

Another sunny day, 15c according to Alexa.

Chicken out for supper tomorrow, defrosting in the fridge. Melon also in there for breakfast tomorrow.

Update

Yesterday was Pacemaker appointment day. I was up and ready when the driver came to collect me, good journey in and was taken ahead of time, so home in just over an hour and a half. Another appointment in 3 months, very little battery use, but then I have been laid up for over 10 weeks now. I did manage to walk in to the clinic and out again without the walker. I am taking pain killers 3 times a day now. I may be able to cope with high levels of pain, but constant pain I cannot, I need to move about more, so its the lesser of the two evils. My right knee is a real problem.

DB had done as he was told, and not been out of the sitting room, so that was ok. Another time will matbe take him with me, depends how he is.

Was exhausted for the rest of the day. Better nights sleep last night. I have towels in the washer, it looks like rain so they are going in the dryer. I have been through the outside freezer, have stuff in there that needs using up. Then I may switch it off for a bit until things resolve themselves a bit.

I am planning to drive the car round the square this weekend and try reversing the car onto the drive. I have to remember its longer than the other one.

DD2 coming tonight with fish and chips for us all, she has been working extra as a member of staff is off sick and they do not know when she may be back.

So its fish and chips tonight.

That was a damp squib

transport was supposed to pick me up this morning for Physio, did not turn up, could not be contacted by phone, so had to grovel to the powers that be to make another appointment, this time its after lunch, so slightly better. Needless to say I am not a happy bunny.

Its a very dull day, we have a large van parked on the front, seems they are replacing the windows in the house next door......at least they are not making too much noise.

More washing done on the airer in the porch to dry. I sit on my trolly to hang it up, saves my back.

Quiche and macaroni cheese for supper tonight. Looking at starting to cook full meals again.

DB had a really bad coughing fit last night, about half an hour......I find it difficult to cope with, there is nothing I can do.

 

Out

 friend came and took me to the post office to drawer cash, was running out. It had rained during the night and early this morning but dried up, rather cold as well.

I still have not got over my night without sleep, feeling very tired again just now, did try to have a nap but to no avail.

Going to the physio tomorrow, should be interesting.

sunny

again, misty start but sun came out about 11am. Carer here this morning, another one who has not been before.

Cleaner has been usual good job, did wonder if she was coming she was late, but I knew she would message me if she was unable to come.

DB is still tired from his appointment with the floor, he went to bed just after 10 am. I gave him lunch in bed, will go through and get him up about 3pm.

Sheets etc washed, on the airer in the porch, they will dry in the sun. I have managed to empty one crate in the sewing room, mostly wadding, some smaller bits and also a large piece.

Chicken and rice for supper tonight, creme caeamel for dessert. 

Sunday

so yesterday turned out to be a bad day. DB managed to fall again, hit his head on the sitting room fire, no way I was even going to try to get him up. Rang for an ambulance.....8 hour wait!! A paramedic turned up after 5 hours, took his obs etc and then settled down to wait for the Ambulance. Another set of obs. They decided to take him to hospital for Xrays, as usual he was complaining about his neck and hip. So off he went. It was light so I drew the curtains and the blinds and put myself to bed.

I left a note on the kitchen door asking the carers not to wake me, I had just over an hours sleep and then woke up, got some breakfast and took it back to bed. Hospital phoned about 11am to say that DB was coming home, he arrived just after 12.30. No damage, no chest infection, he went straight to bed, will wake him around 4.30 for a drink. They gave him tea and sandwiches at the hospital before he left.

I am like a rung out dish cloth, will try and get a nap whilst DB is asleep, I need to get cleaner Clare to help me do a bit of manouvering when she comes tomorrow. I am even more determined to shed some of the furniture. Will sort the back bedroom and fabric as I planned, then the chest will get emptied and put up for sale. If it does not sell it will go to the Air Ambulance charity shop. It might even go there anyway. We have had it 11 years, and it has done stirling service, but we do not have a hall here, it takes up quite a bit of room in the sitting room.

No idea as yet about supper. 

Not so bright

but it is not so cold and rain is forecast for later today and tomorrow. I put the heat off yesterday for a while, it was up to 15c outside.

DB is continuing to complain about tiredness, he is having two quite long naps a day. He has not coughed so much today so far.

DD2 came last night with fish and chips for us, waiting for DGS to turn up to take stuff to the Air Ambulance charity shop in the town.

They appear to have finished building next door, sounds as if they are clearing up the mess that was in the garden and in front of the garage.

No idea whats for supper tonight, will have to see what DD fancies when he wakes up.

 

A bit of a change

 in the weather, still quite warm, but not the sun we had yesterday.

It was a new carer this morning, had not seen her before, as usual very good, both ready for breakfast by 8.45.

Not such a good night last night, late putting the light out, but still over 7 hours, so not too bad. I was awake with my right knee doing the fandango, took it a while to settle. I must remember to put the medication on my knees at lunch time, it does help.

Well today I have prepped and cooked chicken with red pepper. It will do two meals at least. We are having fish and chips tonight so I guess it will be chicken and rice tomorrow. DB has taken to having a dessert, so will do oranges in jelly, there is some ice crem in the freezer he can have it with the jelly.

We should have been up in Sheffield at the retreat........I will not be booking for any more, DB is just not fit to go, so its stay at home from now on. He is talking about going away for a few days, he cannot understand why I am reluctant to book anywhere. I got caught once before and ended up having to pay for the accomodation regardless......once bitten twice shy.

Another sunny day

temperature dropped overnight, but it is forecasy to get warmer today than yesterday.......people are going about with not coats and short sleeves.

Another severe talking to for DB yesterday, he does not seem to understand fully that I am no longer able to do what I used to....physio may help, we will have to wait and see. If I could get some sort of support for my back it would help.

Carers are just helping us to wash and dress. Once the dishwasher has finished at night, I set the trolly with bowls etc for breakfast, so in the morning I just pour the juice, put the weetabix in the bowls, milk on the trolly and the coffee, and in we go.

We both start the new medication, me tomorrow, DB on Saturday, so there will be some old medication to go back to be destroyed.

I am going to go out to the car and open one of the front and one of the back windows, it gets very hot in there, the sun is on it from early morning. I had lost the bag for the GPS, found it yesterday under some stuff on the table, so thats to go out as well. At some point I will have to take it to the car wash, its covered in dust from the building work going on next door, it shows up on the black finish.

Chicken and bacon pasta tonight for supper, have a small pudding for DB, his appetite seems to be returning. I got a chicken dinner for two from Morrison, I just have to do roast potatos in the air fryer, and cook the cauliflower for about 6 minutes in the microwave,....... Sunday supper done and dusted!!!!!

Sun is shining

 again it was down to minus 2 last night, high expected 13c, if it carries on like this I will put the heat off during the day.

Today is car day, I did manage out yesterday to check the boot, need to get the rest of the stuff back in sometime today.

No idea what is for supper, will have to put my thinking cap on.

Bright

 sunny day but with a cool breeze. I have a load of laundry in, would love to hang it on the line but not able to. It will go on the airer in the proch.

DB and I had words yesterday.......rather harsh on my side, however I have learnt in the past that I need to do this to make him buck up his ideas and concentrate on getting stronger. I am tired of having to remind him to do his exercises, take his meds etc........ now I am out of my splint he forgets my leg is still not healed and the arthritis in both knees is uncomfortable to say the least........

DD2 called in last night on her way to DGS's she stayed for about an hour. I had hoped that she would be able to baby site DB next week, but she is having to work onher day off as a fellow member of staff is off sick. I remembered in the past I have used the community drivers for hospital appointments which uses drivers to take patients to hospital appointments. I have phoned them this morning, all being well I will be able to cancel the ambulance for the hospital visit.

Egg and chips tonight, should prove interesting.........

Monday again.

 another good nights sleep, just over 8 hours. I spent most of yesterday sleeping.......no idea why. I am just taking my painkillers at night, not during the day as once I am back to driving I think they may affect my driving. Last thing I want is to be had up for driving under the influence........ of drugs!!

Not such a nice morning, its quite cold, forecast is for it to be better later in the week, we change the clocks forward in a couple of weeks so it will be lighter later at night.

Waiting for DGS to come and collect some stuff for the charity shop, he can take them in my car, give it a bit of a run.

DB is up and down, some days he walks ok, others he staggers about like a drunk!! I have given him another month to get his legs stronger, I want to go to the coffee morning in April.

Pacemaker appointment this week, will see what they say about changing it...........have to make arrnagments for DD2 to stay with him, possibly overnight.

No idea whats for supper, I have some chicken, I may cook that with some rice.

Sunny morning

but it turned dull later in the day.

I slept ok but have been very tired all day, a couple of bad nights during the week catching up with me.

DB had a nap this morning and then went for his siesta, he seems to be sleeping quite a bit just now.

I cooked salmon this morning, made a small salad and did some air fryer roast spuds for supper, finished off the chocolate mousse. Doubt we will be late going to bed late......

Tomorrow is another day!!

 

No snow

A couple of weeks ago we were told to expect snow today, whilst it is very cold the sun is shining and there is not sign of snow, I guess they got it wrong again!!

Carer was a bit later this morning, I get washed and dressed first and then DB, that way the carer just has to give us our breakfast and then she is ready to go, total call time is between 30 - 40 minutes.

I need to try and get into the garage this morning, I need to look for a couple of things, I also need to look at our outgoings, things like car tax and insurance, things we pay for annually rather than on Direct Debit, that way I know the minimum I need to transfer to the savings account each month, so I can move the money as and when. needed. Its something I have been meaning to do for a while. I have a £250 limit on groceries per month as I get them delivered, I need to have a £50 buffer for things like washing powder and dish washer tablets which I get from Aldi. My brain needs the exercise!!

My leg is improving gradually, I have come to the conclusion that although I do not like taking them, I need to take the pain killers for my back and knees, so will take them at 12 hour intervals and see how I get on, its my knees rather than my leg which are a problem just now.

Need to do a freezer dive for something for supper, we are still only eating small meals at night. We usually have rolls or something on toast at lunchtime.

One week

 since I had my splint removed. My leg is getting stronger, but both knees are painful thanks to the arthritis.

Sunny but very cold again, I nipped out to put some rubbish in the bin, was glad to get back in again.

Two more aids returned, the comode and also my walking frame, so a bit more room in the sitting room.

Did a small load of laundry, its on the airer in the porch, should dry ok.

Did not sleep too well last night so feeling tired today.... hope to have a better night tonight DD2 is coming on her way home with fish and chips for supper.

Its changing

The high temperatures we were having last  week have gone, we were forecast snow on Saturday coming, but that no longer seems to be the case. Its very cold and yesterday we had a couple of heavy showers.

I have an appointment with the physio on 26th, but to be honest I do not think much is needed, the heavy feeling is gradually wearing off, although I do get tired if I stand too long.

Grrrrr just had a grocery delivery, the cream has leaked all in the bottom of the bag, will be ringing to get a refund, no cream for DB on his chocolate mousse!! Also had the council tax bill, of course it has gone up...... why did I think otherwise.

So will be spending the rest of this week resting, next week I am going to do an hour a day in the sewing room and get all the stuff thats going to Linus bagged up. Then I might be able to see the wood for the trees.

I have requested that the agency drop the late afternoon and evening calls, I am sort the supper  myself and also can undress myself without help now. Waiting to hear from the powers that be.

Garlic chicken and salad for supper tonight. DB can have a chocolate mousse if he wants it.

 

Improvement continuing

DB is with the same care people as me starting tomorrow. I am going to ring social services to cancel my afternoon call, there is nothing for her to do. I am now using the dishwasher again. The Physio came to see him this morning, happy with his progress, he is now walking with a stick, still using small steps but that will imrpove as time goes on.

My knee is much the same, so keep plodding on, I have ordered a knee support to help the arthritis.

It was a dull morning but the sun has come out. The quilt cover was dry so towels in, will put them on the airer in the porch when the machime has finished.

I have had some new plates etc delivered, they are in the dishwasher, the old ones I have had over 20 years, they will go in a box in the garage ready to go to the charity shop.

Supper, mac and cheese with sausages and roasted potato done in the air fryer.

Improving

 my knee is feeling less heavy today. DB's carer came first this morning, so I started my breakfast before I got washed and dressed.

The sheet and pillowcases from yesterday were dry, it was a fine sunny morning, so I draped the quilt cover over the airer just outside the back porch door to dry.

Managed at last to get my hair washed, it needed it.....feel much better now, will be glad when I can wash it in the shower.

I put my nose in the sewing room and closed the door again, it will have to wait another couple of weeks before I tackle it.

Supper tonight is beef stew and dumplings, fresh oraged for dessert.

Traffic Jam

it was like Paddy's market in the house this morning. 2 carers, 1 hairdresser and the cleaner all in the house at the same time!!

My leg is a bit better this morning, my knee cap still feels like it full of lead, but not quite as  bad as yesterday. The washing dried in the sun, will wash the towels today and put them on the airer, the forecast is for it to be quite warm today.

DB's getting more confident now, he did just walk into the garden yesterday to look at the bulbs, I need to ring Trevor and sort out when he is to start back. I need to tax the car first.

No night carers for Edwin and I think mine will stop soon as well, I can manage to get undressed and dressed, its just washing I need help with until I am secure enough to go in the shower again.

Nothing planned for today, just sit with my leg up and do a couple of exercises..... thats it.

Sweet and sour chicken by request tonight...... I still have quite a few frozen ready meals.

 

Day 2

 so DB's carer came just before 7am. I got the breakfast before my carer came, back to pineapple and croissant with strawberry jam.

I put some laundry in the washer, and once it had finished, sat on a chair to put it on the airer in the porch, its been really warm in there and most of it seems to be dry.

I did manage to walk round the car to look at the side garden, full of snowdrops and crocus although they are beginning to go over now. I did take a photo but cannot get it to show on here, tried several times.

You can just see the front of the new car, its not a very good photo, the sun is beating down. You could not see them last year because of all the rubbish on that bit of the garden.

My leg feels heavy, not surprising considering it has been supported with the splint, even though it was not really in the right place. I have to wait for the physios to come with some exercises for me.

1st Day

without the brace........ gentlr day, not too much walking about, leg feeld weird with out the brace, Knee feels heavy.

Its been another really nice day, was going to have a walk round the garden, but fell asleep instead. I prepared our lunch, left the pots for the carer to see to, I think they may stop the afyernoon call, there is not a lot for her to do, she will be back later to prepare me for bed.

I am looking forward to being able to get outside for a while, I have cabin fever!!!

busy day

Both carers were late coming this morning, it was after 10am, so a slow start to the day.

DD2 brought the washing back, DGD and partner were off to Shrewsbury to C's grandmothers funeral, so DD2 had the baby. 

DB had just done his exercises when the OT turned up, so quite a busy morning.

I did manage a short Nana nap this afternoon. Just 2 days before I go to the hospital, an XRay will show how the fracture is calsifying......

Another suuny day

lulling us into a false sense of security!! Snow had been forcast for the end of the month!!

DB's carer came at 7am this morning, needless to say he has slept for over an hour during the morning.

My neice has emailed to say she is coming to see us this afternoon, she is in for a shock!! I have told her to let herself in with the key safe, save me hobbling to the door.

Its a bright sunny morning but very cold. its supposed to get up to 11c.

Would love to be able to go out!! No chance.

Again

 We are forecast sun for the rest of the week, then its to revert......shame its nice to see the sun.

DD2 came in yesterday afternoon on her way to a sleep over with GDG.

Carers later coming this morning, both arrived almost together but I was first in the bathroom.

The physio came to see DB she is taking him for a short walk up the garden, I cannot go out, cannot get a shoe on my left foot as yet.

DD2 came and picked up the washing on her way home, she will bring it back on Wednesday.

Another sunny day

Our carers arrived at the same time this morning, so I came through and had my breakfast whilst DB got washed and dressed, then it was my turn.

I am starting to get bored. I have almost finished the magazines that T. brought me a couple of weeks ago.

DD2 came in on her way to DGS she is sleeping over tonight with Little Miss. Daddy is on nights and does not fnish till 6am, and Mummy starts work at 6am. DD2 will pick up the laundry on her way home in the morning.

DB is at last starting to walk better, taking bigger steps with his walker, which is a relief, his carers will change when he is walking properly.

I have my appointment at the hodpital on Friday, will have an idea then how long I am going to have the splint on.

Sorry

I missed  posting yesterday, we had a couple of callers and the day somehow slid past.

DB is getting on ok, as usual I had to have a massive blowout at him, it's the only way sometimes. He has exercises to do, so I am making sure he does them.He needs to be able to wash and dress himself and also walk better....I have to keep telling him to straighten his legs. He walks like a bandy legged old man!!

We have just had lunch, will not be having a meal tonight as we have been given a Cornish cream tea. By the time we have eaten that we will not need anything else.

It's a lovely sunny day, the porch is really warm, the sun hits it from early morning until mid afternoon. I wish there was room for a couple of chairs, it would be nice to sit in the sun for a change.
