Busy day

It had been decided that we needed to buy a new fridge freezer when finances recovered a bit from our move.

Yesterday I ordered a new one, it is being delivered tomorrow. Yesterday the cleaner and I went out to the garage and brought in the electric cool box and the freezer chest. So the chest is packed with the stuff from the freezer. Some of the stuff from the fridge is in the cool box. The milk, orange juice etc is in the utility room which does not get the sun, it's quite cold in there.

I will get a 4 hour time slot in the morning for delivery. They will need to decide which way they want to bring it in.

After a couple of naff nights, I managed 9 1/2 last night, hoping for the same tonight.

Chicken for supper, finished off a couple of cheese cakes with some cream.

Uugggg

Winter is on its way, heating is on, I switch it off around 10am, the house seems to retain the heat ok. I have switched the bedroom radiator on first thing.

Nothing much happening. DB seems to have talked to himself and is making the effort to walk more, it's great I no longer have to haul him round on the commode. How long it will last is another matter.

Wet first thing it seems to be clearing up although it's still quite grey.

I was scanning through some stuff the other night, came across a death notice for one of my previous employers, it brought back some memories.

Supper tonight is fishfinger and wedges, dessert possibly lemon cheese cake.

Its cold and foggy

Temperature is 9c just now, heating on in sitting room for a while..

DB has had a reasonable couple of days, a slight dizzy yesterday, slept it off.

Lady came with our library books and took back the ones we had read, 6 for me. Going to just read them in bed before I settle down to [try] sleep,

Nothing much going on, have to rebook my injection appointment after my blood test, so it will be late in November, will try and book it for when DD2 is on days off.

We had a call from the scrabble lady at Catherine Place, she has covid, I am so glad we moved when we did, apparently they are in lockdown to try and reduce the spread.

Supper tonight is Chicken, DB has requested no cooked veg, just a cut up tomato and cucumber. Creme caramel for dessert.

The sun is a shining

 But it's blooming cold. DB had a really bad day yesterday, I was glad to go to bed.

At the moment we are sitting in the conservatory, he is reading, I am girding my loins for a visit from 2 GGS's. They are due after lunch.

Consultation has taken place........ the fridge freezer which the LL kindly gave to us is so noisy and seems to switch on quite frequently, that means it is using electricity. So tomorrow I will get the agency to confirm the gift, and then buy a new one, which will be ours to take with us, if we ever move.

The washer is ok, although it does not switch off until you set the dial to off, is ok, it could do with a new door seal, but I am not paying for that. I will see if I can clean it. In the winter I can dry the washing in the conservatory. The dish washer appears to be quite new, although I have not checked that.

Supper tonight, roast pork, potatoes and cauliflower cheese. Not too sure about dessert as yet.

Not A Good Start

DB decided to have a full blown dizzy attack this morning. Carer had just come to get him up, we tried a couple of times, but in the end there was no point in him standing around waiting. In fact it was almost 11am before DB surfaced.  I washed and dressed him and got him through into the living room, So no breakfast, he had cheese on toast and yogurt at lunch time, and promptly went back to sleep. I am seriously tired at the moment, my sleep had improved, but this past week it has been awful.

I washed bed linen on the cheap electricity, it's out on the whirly. Its sunny, but only to get up to 19c today. Love the smell of washing dried on the line.

I hard boiled a couple of eggs, so egg salad for supper tonight.......Not sure about a dessert.

 Morrison have released their order dates for Christmas, I have put a basic order in, I can review it month by month. DB has asked for pork, so order in for stuffed pork shoulder and a raspberry trifle. I will order a bottle of sherry nearer the date and possibly a bottle of liqueur.

Sunny Morning

Sitting in the conservatory is quite pleasant, the sun is warm through the glass. I have been out in the garden,  much to my surprise I found a tiny cyclmen growing through a crack in the paving. I will have a go at getting it out and plant it in the garden.

DB had a bad day yesterday, ended up in bed at 8pm. The Dr rang me, he is putting DB back on the medication he came out of hospital with.........I also spoke to him about my Dexa scan, the scan showed further weakness in the base of my spine, despite being on the medication for 6 years. I go for my first injection next week.

DB is having stovies tonight. I will probably have a ding dinner.

Tuesday

Woke to rain, arghhh I had a load of laundry to hang out. We have recently switched to a cheap fuel deal, between 2am and 5am the electricity is virtually half price. Both the washer and dish washer have delay timers on, so set them to start after 2am, wake up to washing done and dishes dry..........peak time is 4pm to 7pm just the right time to catch cooking the evening meal!! I need to work out how to avoid that..........we always eat the main meal of the day around 5pm.

DB is ok, just a couple of small dizzys yesterday, he is now walking at least twice a day round the sitting room and doing his leg exercises. Will be starting him walking to the toilet again too.

Supper tonight is egg salad with new potatoes, choice of a couple of desserts.

Where did that week go?

Time has got away from me again. Looking after DB is a full time job, however, I did manage a bit more cleaning up in the garden. I need to sort out the two planters that are going on the front.

The cleaner was here yesterday, so everywhere is clean. Its turned cold in the mornings so I have the heat on in the sitting room. DB complained his legs and feet were cold, so 3 pairs of woollen knee socks,  he can just get his slippers on over them.

DB 's progress is slow, a week in and he is still using the Cammode to move round, I need to get him to do a short walk twice a day, easier said than done. He finished the dizzy tablets on Thursday, yesterday they returned. I have a phone appointment booked with the Dr. On Wednesday, will see what he has to say.

Supper tonight will be gammon parsley sauce, roast spuds and veg. Creme caramel for dessert.

Brrrr

It was cold thus morning, carer was late and not the one we were exexpecting. DB had his breakfast before he came, so a short morning. Grocery  delivery, I forgot DB's orange juice.

The sun came out after lunch, it was quite warm in the conservatory. Ironing lady brought the ironing back. For the first time since we moved in August 25 all the sheets etc are in the right container.

Supper tonight crustless quite and salad, a variety of dessert on offer, custard tart, cheesecake or chocolate mousse.

Sorted

Gas lady arrived after lunch, she had to change the meter, she confirmed that it was actually a smart meter but had not been linked to the electricity, when she tried to link it, no joy, so a new meter was fitted, tested and an in home display left on the side in the utility room. I can check each day what we have used and the cost. That does not include the standing charge or VAT but gives an approximate amount.

DB and I had words last night..........I was very angry with him, so much so I could not sleep. He did apologise this morning, but I know the same thing will occur again.........I had made certain promises, and I intend to keep them, but no way is it going to be easy.

Its a dull cold morning, yesterday it got up to 24c today we will be lucky if it reaches 20c.......bŕrrrrrr......I am holding out putting the heating on.......I need to get to grips with the controls, which is not going to be easy.

DB was elected to have spag bol tonight, no idea what I am going to have.......his will be a ding dinner.

Today is my 2 hours off, I might pick up something whilst I am out.

Waiting for the gas man

Was up at 7.15am, after a disturbed night. DB was fidgeting, so I knew he was awake.

Carer was prompt, so we had our breakfast in the sitting room. I had towels to hang out, they are moving in the slight breeze. The sun broke through around 11am.

I filled two flasks with boiling  water, the electric will be switched off whilst the meter is changed, I hope they do not rock up before lunch or DB will be having cold soup.....

Keep doing bits in the garden, I could do with some sort of edging to keep the soil from spilling onto the slabs. Do not want to spend a fortune if I have to buy it. I have spent more than enough on having the trees cut back.

I need to get my mojo up, I have the felt out to make Santa, Ruldolf and the sleigh for GGS. Its just getting it cut out and started. I need to be sure DB is ok before I start. I may have to resort to sewing when he is asleep!!

Supper tonight, sausage, potato wedges and beans. There is melon left for dessert.

Start of the week.

 DB struggled, but managed to stay awake till 9pm. Carer came just after 7pm to get him ready for bed.

Light went out just before 10pm, DB needed the loo just after midnight, we both then settled down. The alarm woke me at 7.30.

DB up washed and dressed by 8.30, breakfast and settled down to read. He settled down for a nap around 11am. He is walking better, will get him to walk with his frame into the conservatory after lunch. He usually has a nap in the afternoon as well just now.

I am sleeping a lot better, the last 2 nights have been over 8 hours......amazing!!

Laundry hung out on the whirly, very little breeze and cool, but temperature die to rise to 21c today.

Supper tonight, white fish, mashed potato and peas. I have a melon I am going to do for dessert.

A good sleep for one of us.

 Carer came just before 7pm, so DB elected to go to bed. I took a book through and read till 9pm and then settled down myself. I did wake a couple of times and finally aroused myself at 7.30. 

It was TJ this morning, he was so pleased to see DB home, he said all the carers had said how much they missed coming........so life goes off as usual again.

DB sat in the conservatory for a while, then settled down to sleep for an hour or so.He walked through the sitting room to the conservatory with his frame. I followed behind with the wheelchair, just in case. He is walking slowly, but getting there.

He has just had his lunch a banana sandwich, yogurt and a glass of milk.

I have made a pot of lentil soup. I will decant it into a jug and put it in the fridge.

Supper tonight, chicken, mash and veggies.

Home at last

Db arrived home at 8.45am this morning. At 10pm last night I spoke to the nurse looking after DB. After talking to DB the decision was made to cancel last nights pick up and schedule it for today. Apparently the ambulance chaps arrived before DB was up. So 2 nurses washed and dressed him and waved bye bye.

I was just thinking about getting dressed when there was a tap tap at the window, low and behold the patient was there.

He has had a fair day, quite tired, but a few nights sleep will soon sort that out. He had a couple of naps during the day. DD2 arrived with some leeks I had asked her to get. Stayed talking for a couple of hours before heading off to see DGD and the children. Supper tonight was a Cornish Pasty, very moreish. DB had creme caramel, I finished off the lemon cheesecake washed down with a cup of tea.

I guess we will both benefit from a decent night's sleep.

 

Coming home

Well I have sat like an idiot all day waiting for DB to arrive home from hospital, it is now8.10pm. Have just rung the hospital, they are waiting for an ambulance to collect him and bring him home. Heaven knows what sort of state he will be in when he gets here...............

 And then on to see DB. He had eaten his soup and then developed a dizzy. Did not stay long, just about an hour.

Had a rude awakening this morning, no hot water for the shower, ended up having a cold one. Rang the agents, plumber coming after 4pm. Hope it's fixable........

Having the rest of the turkey breast with some salad tonight for supper. Probably a creme caramel for dessert.

It rained quite heavily on the way home, DB wants me to sort his rain gauge out, we are due heavy rain tomorrow apparently.

Home Day

DB has had a couple of iffy days. Yesterday they gave him an injection for the nausea which shot him into the worst dizzy attack he has ever had. Today he had another nasty dizzy, the Dr gave him tablets which took it off.

I went to Morrison this morning for a couple of things I wanted, cancelled our delivery as not much was needed. I forgot it was market day, the shop and car park rammed.

Since I got home I have been dittering about. Cooked turkey breast slices with new spuds, cauliflower and broccoli for my supper.

Tomorrow I have my scan at the hospital DB is in, so will go on to see him.

I will go in again on Friday, I have a feeling he is going to be in there for a while. If they manage to sort out what's going on it will be worth it. Hopefully I may get to see a Doctor tomorrow.

Weather is unsettled, sun, cloud and wind. It has tried to rain a couple of times. All laundry is now done and dried. Just need to fold today's in the morning. The bed needs changing this week, that should be interesting.

Visiting

After yesterday's PJ day, today has been busy. Laundry washed overnight, hung out on the new whirly. 10.30am, I was on my way to see DB. He was dizzy, he had seen the Dr. I had hoped to speak to the Dr myself, but after waiting for over 2 hours, I had to leave. I did not want to get caught in heavy traffic, I arrived home at 3.45pm.

I brought the washing in, we had a couple of rain showers whilst I was out, the laundry was a bit damp, so it's on the airer in the conservatory. I then went out and surveyed the pots, I have moved a few, but had to give up, my back was complaining. Will may be move a couple more tomorrow. There is quite a lot of rubbish to go to the tip. There will be a lot more before I have finished.

I have had my supper, so once  I have put the plates etc in the dish washer I will settle down to watch TV.

Sunday

DD1, SSIL and GGS turned up before lunch. Curtains up, so everything done,

GGS was fascinated with the sewing machine, I made a bookmark for him.

Drove over to see Edwin, I was not happy, but not much I can do, he got distressed when I had to wait an hour for a porter to take me back to the entrance. I finally got home at 6.30pm having left here at 2.30pm.

I have phoned this morning, they said he was ok, why am I sceptical about that. He will see a Dr tomorrow.

I am having a pyjama day today, will go in tomorrow and see what's what.
