Started

 Today I started on the sewing room, some progress made but not a lot, still sorting out stuff, hopefully should get it sorted so I can get the sewing machine onto the table and put the carrying case in the garage. I purloined a blanket from the removers so I can wrap it up, hopefully will keep it clean. The carrycase for the arm will go in the bottom of the spare bed, then it will be all down hill and hopefully I can start on some new projects. 

DB has been OK today, ate most of his supper, no dizziness, so hopefully we will get a bit of peace for a couple of days.

Supper was cold chicken, calebrease, cauliflower and potato wedges, we finished off the raspberries in jelly.

Not a good day

Unfortunately DB stared the day with a dizzy, it has been coming and going all day.

Cleaner came this morning, she does such a good job.Lovely clean house again.

DB watched a film this afternoon, I started on the sewing room, but did not get far, I just seemed to be putting stuff away and then sorting it again. I found a pencil case and several sketch books belonging to DB, so he has no excuse.

Tomorrow I start again, it is going to be finished this week.

I moved the small machine into the second bedroom in its box, threw a cloth over it stuck a lamp on it and called it a bedside table..

Chicken, new potatoes, cauliflower and calebrese for supper DB ate it all and a bowl of raspberries in jelly.

Its been warmish all day, closed the consrvatory up, grey skies, lamps on in the sitting room. Waiting for the carer to come and get DB ready for bed.

Yet more rain

Woke to blue skies, soon turned to grey and persistent rain. Nipped off to collect the curtains, ready to go up once the rail is up.Cannot wait now to get the place finally sorted and straight. It is almost 3 weeks since we moved in.

It feels quite cold after the weeks of constant heat, will not be putting the heating on, although I ought to test it before winter arrives.

Definite decision, the sewing room is to be tackled starting Monday, so I need to decide what is going where.

DB has asked for cheese on toast and raspberry jelly for supper, so that's what he will get. I will cook chicken tomorrow, if he does not eat it then tough.

Rain

It has rained for most of the day, on and off. DB asked ifcI knew where his sketching stuff was, I found it in the cupboard in what will be my sewing room when I finally get round to it. He is going to start drawing again.

Aaron came to look at the terrace etc, I was horrified to see the weeds that Max got out last week have grown again. I will be getting some weed killer tout suite.

DB did not eat his supper again tonight......he did manage the fish, but very little else.

It poured with rain again this evening, we had the proms on tonight, Richard Strauss. Very Germanic........

Tomorrow I need to go and collect the curtains I took to be shortened, hopefully we will get them up soon. Rick will be back from his holiday next week.

 

What a change

Just after 8am it started to rain, continued until about 2pm. Good job we are notcat the bottom of a hill!!

I managed to sort out the bookcase, there are some spaces from things we have got rid off. Now I just have to sort the sewing room. I have decided to close the door fromS the kitchen to the hall and clear out everything that's on the floor, get the table ready for the big machine and move the small machine, in its box, into Claires room for now, then maybe I can get the rest sorted.

DB has had a couple of iffy days, hope he improves for us to go to Hose for coffee next week.

Supper tonight, egg for DB, cornbeef for me with salad and the rest of the strawberries for dessert.

The sun has got his hat on,

 Its quite warm in the day time, but soon gets cooler when the sun moves round to the west. Its been a busy day.... spent ages trying to change our address with the DWP. Gave up in the end, I will write to them. Then needed to sort out the gas and electric, the electric had been transferred but needed a new gas account. Let's just say I was on the phone for over an hour!!

Then  delivery chap and the post man, the window cleaner and DB's medication delivery, just waiting for the last caller, the estate agent to bring me a key so I can read the gas meter. I will be glad to go to bed tonight.

Two gigantic pots arrived, one is for sweet peas the other climbing beans, both for next summer. The tomato growing kit also came, so the shed will be a bit fuller.

No nearer getting the sewing room clear, think I will have to pile everything in the passage, unbox the embroidery arm and the machine and then put stuff away from there. Its beginning to get on my nerves now, I hate mess......even though the door is shut, I still know there is a mess in there.

Supper tonight, sausage mash and baked beans. Strawberries for dessert.

Sunny

This morning turned out to be dull and quite cold. After lunch the sun came out, the conservatory heated up and by suppertime all the laundry on the airer was dry. The sitting room warmed up nicely.

I did a bit of tidying up, I had a 3 tier shelf unit to put in the pantry cupboard, so I can easily see whats in it.

We also had a conversation. About the garden.  Two large pots, one for sweet peas one for climbing  beans. A trough for cherry tomatoes....... I will grow them from seed in the conservatory with the cuttings I will take from the geraniums in a couple of weeks. The hardy fushias will stay in their pots over winter. 

The rhoddi I bought appears to have suffered a lot of damage from the sun. Will have to see if I can revive it for next year.

Supper tonight, roast pork, roast potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli, apple sauce and gravy. Strawberries for dessert.

Slow day

Tate the carer came to DB this morning and will be coming for the next 3 mornings, he is on nights, so we are his last call. We had not seen him for quite a while.

Nothing much done, have cleared some more of the stuff in the sewing room, have ordered a unit to fit in the cupboard, so boxes can be emptied and disposed of.

We are gradually beginning to settle down, DB has spent a couple of hours in the conservatory in the morning, looking at the garden, I went out and watered the pots, a lot of the plants are beginning to die back.

Supper, quiche and salad with strawberries for dessert.

 

Funny day

Spent the morning reading. DB sat in the conservatory for a while in the morning.

We had two very heavy showers of rain in the afternoon, at one time the paving slabs were just running with water.

DB had a dizzy attack in the afternoon. T came to see us, but DB was out of it. No stovies for supper, he ended up in bed at 7pm. Woke once long enough to eat some biscuits and then went off to sleep again. He was a bit dopey this morning, sat in the conservatory for an hour or so, had a nap after lunch.

I tackled the sewing room, took some stuff in to the garage, brought the small steps back in so I can sort out the top shelf in the cupboard. Most stuff is off the floor, I just have to sort out the mats etc for the big machine. The small one is staying in the box till I have time to sort it out, photograph it and put it on ebay.

Supper tonight is last nights stovies, the onion and potato was almost cooked, I had cubed the corned beef, so just need to finish cooking the spuds, chuck in the corned beef and away we go. Strawberries for dessert.

I Shut the door

On the sewing room till next week. I phoned my machine dealer and he has ordered a new flat bed box for my Lumi. Cost me £100......

GGS Max came this afternoon, he has scrapped out all the weeds on the patio. He is coming back at the weekend to jet wash the slabs. The shrubs etc in the garden are in a mess, a lot of cutting back is called for. I wish my old gardener was still around, he would have made short work of it.

DB is doing well, he walked through into the conservatory this afternoon to have a look at the garden. We are both sleeping better for some reason I clocked 9 hours last night and 8+ the night before.

The boxes have been collected, we also sorted out the key to the garage front door.

DB elected to have corned beef salad for supper, we had the last two custard tarts. Delivery from Morrison tomorrow. 

My goodness

I went to Tesco this afternoon for a small top up, I was astonished at some of the prices.......I have had a Tesco card for years, but Tesco was not one of the shops I used. Compared to Morrison they are in a different league,  to get a delivery you have to spend £50. I pay £39 and get deliveries for 12 months. Morrison minimum spend is £25.

The chiropodist came this morning. She has chucked her husband out........long story. She has put her prices up, first time for a number of years.

Its much cooler and there is a breeze, the leaves on the trees are starting to turn, plenty of sweeping up in the autumn.

I was in my sewing room this morning, looking at getting rid of a lot of stuff, the travel bag for the machine is going to have to go in the garage. The bag for the embroidery arm will go in the bottom of the bed in the third bedroom out of the way.

Pork and rice for supper tonight, I got a couple of custard tarts for dessert, we finished the melon last night.

That which was lost???

 I had emptied all the boxes in my sewing room, no sign of the two monitors that feed pacemaker info back to the technicians. I phoned the removers, he thought they were part of the contents to be left in the apartment!! eventually after a lot of argy bargy, I was let in and retrieved them. Now plugged in so report to night to co firm we are still in the land of the living.

DB had a nasty dizzy this morning, was out of it for a couple of hours. All boxes now unpacked, just need to sort out the sewing room and get the curtain poles put up then DD1 and SIL can come over and give me a lift getting the machine up on the table and put the curtains up, then e try thing will be finished except for installing the whirly.

Supper cottage pie, veg and gravy, rest of the melon for dessert.

Busy day

I have one last box to unpack, hall is full of broken down boxes ready to go into the garage to await collection. So we are getting there. The sitting/dining room is fairly straight, the kitchen sorted, utility area OK. The 3rd bedroom now has the boxes of Christmas Dec's in the cupboard along with some of the bedding for the bed. Our bedroom is tidy. The sewing room resembles a tip, hope to get to grips with that over the next couple of days. Curtain rails due by Tuesday, so curtains will be going up.

It has been a lot cooler today, although when I went through the conservatory it was still warm enough to sit in. Last night the temperature was a lot lower, we were glad of the quilt on the bed over the sheet

I did a small load of laundry overnight, it dried on the airer in the conservatory, I found a couple of boxes lurking there, will move them tomorrow. So we can start to settle down and enjoy the space.

Supper tonight was roast pork and salad. I had a melon I had been ripening, we had some of that for dessert. A buttered tea cake also found it's way onto a plate whilst we were watching cricket on TV.

DB's carer was late, she had a busy day, but we were her last call, so she stopped for a chat. She was the carer who came to me 18 months ago. She doubles in the office, so do not see so much of her now. It was nice to catch up.

Much cooler

 Overcast this morning and much cooler. Slow start, doors and windows open to let in some fresh air.

Cleaner came and did her usual good job. The battery on the vaccum ran out before she finished the sitting room carpet, so I will do it once it's charged up again.

I have started running the cold water before the hot comes into a bucket and using it to water the plants. The boiler is quite away from the kitchen, so it takes a while to run through hot. Now the plants are in the shade  they are doing  well. Once the boxes have been un packed I will move them round to where I want them.

Sun came out this afternoon not too hot. No rain although it may be cloudy tomorrow.

Supper tonight was crustless quiche, and salad, chocolate mousse, a glass of shandy went down very well. It was chilled down in the fridge.

Another hot day

But 9c less than yesterday, there is a breeze, but it's a warm breeze. 

I have started on the sewing room, cannot believe the number of boxes still to open.

Gradually getting used to the place, keeping fit going from the back to the front door.

Sleeping was not easy last night, although the sun had moved round, it was still rather stuffy. I had the fan on to cool me down.

Going to indulge in fish and chips from the chippy for supper tonight, too hot and tired to tackle them here.

Phew its hot

36c here this afternoon, fans have been going since early morning.

I had an appointment for blood test, Dr's were running late. T was with DB whilst I was out.

This afternoon I have emptied 5 more boxes to clear the bedroom, have not found our pacemaker monitors yet, they must be in the boxes in the sewing room, will start in there tomorrow.....?.

I am shattered, sleep not too bad, managed to get the internet connected this morning, so have checked the bank, still surviving.......at last the lady who is moving into our apartment has paid me for the dish washer........

Supper tonight is ham and salad........it's too hot for anything else.

We are here

 We arrived just before lunch. I came down during the morning to let the delivery chaps in. Wardrobe soon made up, discovered it was slightly bigger than the measurements on the web site, however switched round the dressing table for the linen press, all ok. 

DD2 was soon into her stride, kitchen was her area of work, boxes unpacked and contents soon distributed aroumd the various cupboards. I sorted out the two shower rooms. Boxes unpacked and shoved into the conservtory along with the wrapping paper. The new wardrobe was soon bursting at the seams. I did not realise we had so much 'stuff'.

French doors open into the conservatory and outside door opened.......

After supper we made up the two beds and were soon in them

I had a funny night but managed to sleep 8 hours, but then I had only had 3+ hours the night before.

After breakfast DD2 sat in the conservatory and collapsed all the boxes and folded up the packing paper, its all in the garage now, awaiting collection. After lunch Dgd arrived with the two little ones. E had a great time exploring. He opened the back door and walked back in through the conservatory. S lay on the carpet smiling and talking away to himself. He is a very vocal baby. Has a petchant for chewing great grandmas finger, my goodness he has  strong chew!

After they left I remade the bed with just a top sheet and a quilt, last night we slept umder the duvet. My goodness it was warm.

Internet is not working as it should, this is being sent from my mobile phone.

So DB's carer has just been, he is ready for bed and we will soon be turning in. Chap is coming tomorrow to sort the TV ariel. So there will be TV to watch. Its also my afternoon off, so I will be hitting the shops for various bits we need.

Quiet day??

DB seems to be suffering from stress, he was awake for ages in the night, so of course I had to be awake too. His Meniers is playing up.

I did not get up early this morning decided to have a lie in so switched the alarm off. Packed stuff from the bathroom, cleaned out the dishwasher and sorted out some other bits.

Tomorrow is the day........... DD2 is coming at 9am, I will have to nip off with some stuff to let the chaps in with the wardrobe, they will ring when they are half an hour away, then they have to assemble it, cost me extra, but it's so much worth it.

Salmon and salad for supper before hopefully our coffee ladies arrive for coffee and a chat, then we retire up to the guest suite for the night.

I was shattered last night, not much sleep, hope tonight is better........I think some of DB's problems just now are due to stress. We will see once we are settled in.

May be off line for a couple of days, fingers crossed I manage to sort it out. Satellite will be sorted out on Wednesday.

I am shattered

We collected the keys for the bungalow this morning. The whole place had been cleaned and smelt quite fresh. I had taken frozen stuff for the freezer, filled 2 drawers. DB sat in one of the conservatory chairs whilst I had a look round. Lots of cupboard space in the kitchen and utility room. I discovered that bedrooms 3 & 2 had been listed wrong 3 was 2 and 2 was 3, so my sewing room is now at the front of the house rather than the back. One thing I did find peculiar, there were no toilet paper holders, so will have to look for an alternative. This has got to be a long term stay, no way can I do without a toilet paper holder!! There is no TV ariel, we are getting a dish up on Wednesday, I also need to have a butchers at the connection for the Internet. I think it needs to be plugged into the telephone line.

DB went to play scrabble this afternoon so another trip to the bungalow for me. The freezer is full in the kitchen, just the fridge stuff to move on Monday. I had a look in the garden, some nice stuff, but it will look better when I have had a go at it. I also found a place for the whirly, plenty of room for it to twisle round in the breeze.

We are having a ding dinner tonight, DB, Lasagna,  me sweet and sour chicken. It was one of the scrabble ladies birthday, so we came away with 2 cup cakes.......yum yum, they will do for dessert.

A good sleep last night, hope tonight is the same, perhaps one trip to the bungalow to take a few more bits including the whisky and brandy decanters. By the time this move is over I will need a very big drink of some sort and it won't be tea!!!

 

Hot again

Another night of broken sleep, so much swirling around in my head. No packers now till the final lift on Monday. All the kitchen cupboards are empty and have been cleaned out, just the cutlery draw to be done after lunch on Sunday and then the work surfaces cleaned down and the fridge cleaner to do. Sunday, I will strip the bed and take the sheets to Ferneley Crescent, they will go in the washer overnight and on the airer on Monday. I also want to take what I can out of the utility room and get it over to FC.  

The new wardrobe is coming on Monday, the delivery chaps will assemble it, it comes in bits. No more walk in wardrobe to keep the clothes in. Coats will go in the cupboard in the hall.

I went down to Lidl this morning for some bits to carry us through to the next delivery on Wednesday. I did not buy any milk, but noticed that it was £1.65, Morrison have been charging £1.75 for about a month. I have several cartons of long life milk in the fridge and 6 have been packed.

Just having a quiet few minutes, before I start again.

I am getting fish and chips tonight, will nip to the shop just after 5pm, do not want to get stuck in a queue.

The temperature has gone up again, even the wind is warm. Will be glad when it cools down a bit.

I am shattered

Up since 7am, packers arrived just after 8am, they went half an hour ago, some of the furniture  has gone as well as boxes full of stuff, yes we have too much........there will be another clear out once we get straight.

DD came with DGD and the boys, collected the airer and also the TV. It was bedlam for a while.

People have been dropping in to say they did not know we were moving.........we'll yes we are. I should have known better, we did try communal living some years ago........I should have remembered.

We now have 3 days to prepare for the actual move. I will be taking stuff down Saturday and Sunday, so less for them to move.

We still have not found the sewing machine box, I know it came with us, what happened to it I do not know. I will have to see if I can order one. I can still use it with the embroidery arm on, argghhĥ.

Very simple supper, poached egg on toast and rice pudding.

Another day.......another dollar

Up and showered before the carer came to sort DB out. DB's appointment was put back to 12noon, so we went over to Hose via the bungalow. It looked very forlorn, obviously empty. There were signs that bushes by the garage had been trimmed back and the side of the bungalow near the fence had been cleared. I have arranged to pick the keys up at 9.15am on Saturday. I still have not found the second base to the sewing machine, I can only think it's in the base of DD2's bed, will get the chaps to look tomorrow.

Over to Hose for coffee, one or two faces missing. Photos of the house shown......hair cut and shave and we were on our way home.

 Back home DB decided to have a dizzy, so a couple of hours without him asking me questions. We learnt that another of the residents had passed away, she was one of the coffee group and also played scrabble on Saturday with DB. There are quite a few units empty now.

I have labelled a load of stuff so the removers know where to leave it, when they unload.

Its very much a waiting game just now, we are eating up stuff out of the fridge and freezer. I have not ordered groceries this week, a delivery next Tuesday will bring stocks up.

Supper tonight crustless quiche, with bread and butter, tomato, cucumber and coleslaw. I found a lone sausage roll, cut in half, so half each. Tomorrow will be eggs and potato wedges.

I will be really glad when it's this time next week, having DD2 with us will be a great help.

Time goes on

We are paying the removers to pack, which is why they are coming on Thursday to pack up everything we can manage without, including some of the furniture. When they come to finally move us on Monday, it will be whatever is left. I have packed my two sewing machines. I still cannot find the flat bed part of my luminaire, just hope we find it when they start shifting stuff.

DD2 is down in London, comes back tonight, she often hops off down there to go to exhibitions she is interested in. She is coming to stay for a couple of days next week to help us get settled in

Its been quite breezy today, the sun came around after lunch it's been 27c but the breeze has helped.

Tomorrow we go over to Hose for coffee and to get DB's hair cut and beard trimmed. 

The two lots of plants I repotted yesterday seem to be ok, I will water them again tonight.

I have sorted out which way the bungalow faces, the front faces east and the garden west, so plants I use will have to take that into account, I would love to have another camellia, it looks like it will go in the back, so early morning sun does not damage the flowers. There was a fabulous one in the garden at Grange Drive, very deep red.

Supper tonight, hot sausage roll with salad, DB had a banana and custard for dessert.

Another hot day

I was out early this morning transferring plants from a pot that was here when we came, to a new one to go on the front of the bungalow.

R came this morning and took the bedroom TV down, it's going to my  granddaughter, we do not need one in the bedroom now. Then P came with our library books, we have plenty of reading material for now.

Its been very hot again, so have not got much done, need to to get to it tomorrow, we are out on Wednesday morning, so will not get much sorted then, Thursday they come to start packing..........Friday I need to sort out what we are taking with us on Saturday including most of the freezer contents and sheets etc for the beds.

Supper tonight, sausage, mash and cauliflower. DB had banana and custard for dessert. I have taken chicken breast out for tomorrow night, will have it with rice.

This time next week it will all be over except the unpacking!!
