Start of the week.

 DB struggled, but managed to stay awake till 9pm. Carer came just after 7pm to get him ready for bed.

Light went out just before 10pm, DB needed the loo just after midnight, we both then settled down. The alarm woke me at 7.30.

DB up washed and dressed by 8.30, breakfast and settled down to read. He settled down for a nap around 11am. He is walking better, will get him to walk with his frame into the conservatory after lunch. He usually has a nap in the afternoon as well just now.

I am sleeping a lot better, the last 2 nights have been over 8 hours......amazing!!

Laundry hung out on the whirly, very little breeze and cool, but temperature die to rise to 21c today.

Supper tonight, white fish, mashed potato and peas. I have a melon I am going to do for dessert.

A good sleep for one of us.

 Carer came just before 7pm, so DB elected to go to bed. I took a book through and read till 9pm and then settled down myself. I did wake a couple of times and finally aroused myself at 7.30. 

It was TJ this morning, he was so pleased to see DB home, he said all the carers had said how much they missed coming........so life goes off as usual again.

DB sat in the conservatory for a while, then settled down to sleep for an hour or so.He walked through the sitting room to the conservatory with his frame. I followed behind with the wheelchair, just in case. He is walking slowly, but getting there.

He has just had his lunch a banana sandwich, yogurt and a glass of milk.

I have made a pot of lentil soup. I will decant it into a jug and put it in the fridge.

Supper tonight, chicken, mash and veggies.

Home at last

Db arrived home at 8.45am this morning. At 10pm last night I spoke to the nurse looking after DB. After talking to DB the decision was made to cancel last nights pick up and schedule it for today. Apparently the ambulance chaps arrived before DB was up. So 2 nurses washed and dressed him and waved bye bye.

I was just thinking about getting dressed when there was a tap tap at the window, low and behold the patient was there.

He has had a fair day, quite tired, but a few nights sleep will soon sort that out. He had a couple of naps during the day. DD2 arrived with some leeks I had asked her to get. Stayed talking for a couple of hours before heading off to see DGD and the children. Supper tonight was a Cornish Pasty, very moreish. DB had creme caramel, I finished off the lemon cheesecake washed down with a cup of tea.

I guess we will both benefit from a decent night's sleep.

 

Coming home

Well I have sat like an idiot all day waiting for DB to arrive home from hospital, it is now8.10pm. Have just rung the hospital, they are waiting for an ambulance to collect him and bring him home. Heaven knows what sort of state he will be in when he gets here............... 

Went for my scan

 And then on to see DB. He had eaten his soup and then developed a dizzy. Did not stay long, just about an hour.

Had a rude awakening this morning, no hot water for the shower, ended up having a cold one. Rang the agents, plumber coming after 4pm. Hope it's fixable........

Having the rest of the turkey breast with some salad tonight for supper. Probably a creme caramel for dessert.

It rained quite heavily on the way home, DB wants me to sort his rain gauge out, we are due heavy rain tomorrow apparently.

Home Day

DB has had a couple of iffy days. Yesterday they gave him an injection for the nausea which shot him into the worst dizzy attack he has ever had. Today he had another nasty dizzy, the Dr gave him tablets which took it off.

I went to Morrison this morning for a couple of things I wanted, cancelled our delivery as not much was needed. I forgot it was market day, the shop and car park rammed.

Since I got home I have been dittering about. Cooked turkey breast slices with new spuds, cauliflower and broccoli for my supper.

Tomorrow I have my scan at the hospital DB is in, so will go on to see him.

I will go in again on Friday, I have a feeling he is going to be in there for a while. If they manage to sort out what's going on it will be worth it. Hopefully I may get to see a Doctor tomorrow.

Weather is unsettled, sun, cloud and wind. It has tried to rain a couple of times. All laundry is now done and dried. Just need to fold today's in the morning. The bed needs changing this week, that should be interesting.

Visiting

After yesterday's PJ day, today has been busy. Laundry washed overnight, hung out on the new whirly. 10.30am, I was on my way to see DB. He was dizzy, he had seen the Dr. I had hoped to speak to the Dr myself, but after waiting for over 2 hours, I had to leave. I did not want to get caught in heavy traffic, I arrived home at 3.45pm.

I brought the washing in, we had a couple of rain showers whilst I was out, the laundry was a bit damp, so it's on the airer in the conservatory. I then went out and surveyed the pots, I have moved a few, but had to give up, my back was complaining. Will may be move a couple more tomorrow. There is quite a lot of rubbish to go to the tip. There will be a lot more before I have finished.

I have had my supper, so once  I have put the plates etc in the dish washer I will settle down to watch TV.

Sunday

DD1, SSIL and GGS turned up before lunch. Curtains up, so everything done,

GGS was fascinated with the sewing machine, I made a bookmark for him.

Drove over to see Edwin, I was not happy, but not much I can do, he got distressed when I had to wait an hour for a porter to take me back to the entrance. I finally got home at 6.30pm having left here at 2.30pm.

I have phoned this morning, they said he was ok, why am I sceptical about that. He will see a Dr tomorrow.

I am having a pyjama day today, will go in tomorrow and see what's what.

Update

DB has been admitted so they can see if they can find out whats going on. The Dr rang last night and I went through everything from the year dot, he was very nice, and thanked me for my help. Rang this morning and he has been admitted. Apparently he came round sometime duting the night, has had his breakfast and was getting a wash. I will go in late this afternoon. Cleaner is here and DD1, SIL and GGS coming after lunch.

Og course I coould not sleep, although my waych tells me I slept, in bits, for 6 hours+ not bad really.

Cleaner is here, I am going to get as much rest as I can whilst he is in hospital, I just hope they do not put him back to how he was last Septermber when he came out.

Max came yesterday, cleared out the weeds yet again and also dug out half the day lilies that had been allowed to spread. He has sprayed all round with roundup. Once the slabs have been jet washed I will get the filler that you brush in and it sets so weeds cannot penetrate.

Fine sunny morning but very chilly, autumn comes on. I did check the central heating yesterday, it works very well. I went round and turned down all the thermostatic valves so just the sitting room rads are on now. I need to sort out how to set the timer so it comes on automatically when we need it.

So

I managed to keep DB out of hospital for 12 months.......this afternoon he was taken to A&E after collapsing. He had a partial collapse this morning, but at lunchtime he went off again........I could not get him round, so ambulance called and he was on his way. He had been fine for the last couple of days........

So I am waiting to phone in a couple of hours to see what's going on.

In the mean time I have sorted out the felt to do Santa, Rudolf and the sleigh. Whether I actually do it remains to be seen.

 

On the last leg

 Of the nativity scene for the coffee ladies. My Lumi decided she was going to give me agro.......2 broken needles, 2. Bobbin winds needed and two lots of travels pulled through. She is being baby sat at the moment DB is asleep so I am keeping a close eye on her. It really bugs me when a design is almost finished and something happens. I have to start again.

Both had a haircut this morning, DB also had his beard shaved off. I had my wild witch of the west hair tamed down. Will have to wash it in the morning, get rid of the loose bits.

I managed to order 2 toasting loaves and also 2 x 4pt cartons of milk from Morrison on my order, have managed to get the bread in the freezer and the milk in the fridge.

DB has requested sausage and macaroni cheese for his supper. So that's what he will get.

Time Off

 Today was my 2 hours off. Visit to get a key recut then Lidl for a couple of things we needed. I suddenly thought, where did I put that key. Frantic search through my pockets and hand bag........no key....I went back to the ironmongery, some one had handed in... I must have dropped it when I put something in my coat pocket.

Lidl appear to be moving everything round the middle aisle is no longer and everything has been moved round

Once home I tried the key, after a bit of a wiggle it worked, phew.....

Supper tonight fish fingers, butter mash spuds, peas and parsley sauce...... no pudding planned, will see how DB feels after he has eaten his fish fingers.

Sewing machine broke a needle and made a right mess of what I was sewing, will leave it till tomorrow now. It really hisses me off when that happens........

 The garden now the trees and shrubs have been trimmed back, just need the terrace and patio jet washed and resealed and I have a more or less blank canvas to work with.

Wet, wet,wet.......

No complaints though, we need the rain.

Thank you to the person who commented about the dark red plant under the trees, Herucara had not occurred to me, which is strange, they are one of my favourite plants.

The chap is here to trim the trees and bushes, it's chucking it down.......but he has wet weather gear.......I can just sit and watch!!!

DB has had a reasonable 2 days, I have started putting a thick cushion under his knees in bed at night, it seems to be working, he is not slipping down flat, although I think we may also need a foot stop. He does still have dizziness, that will never change, he just lies back ands waits for it to go off.

Supper has been consumed the last few days, so a win on that point, compared to what he used to eat his consumption is miniscule, but then he is not moving about the same.

Tonight he is having garlic chicken and salad. I have some individual sponge puddings, will do him one of those.

Our carers continue to give us excellent care, its mostly boys who come to get him up, washed and dressed. The Ladies come at night to get him ready for bed. There is no way I could cope without them. I may have a strong constitution, but there are limits, especially as I have problems too.

The unpacking is finished, the sewing room is up and running, have started on the Christmas gifts for the coffee morning. I have discarded a load of stuff which should have gone when we moved from Coal Lane 3 years ago, however it's gone now. I guess over time more will follow. 

The odd job man is coming Friday to put the curtain rails up. Then just the odd things to do as they occur.

Winter is on the horizon, we will see how the heating copes. Some of the rads will be left on frost level. I do not heat empty rooms, so the end bedroom and the sewing room  will be left on the frost stat. Our bedroom will be low, enough to take the chill off. We have a dual control electric blanket which can be left on all night if needed. The cloakroom and bathroom will also be low.  I plan to try two different methods with heating controls, one - on low from 7am to 8.30 pm or on twice a day 7.30am to 9.30am and then 4.00pm to 8.30pm. We get a monthly bill so I can compare the two. We generally go to bed after 9pm and read for an hour or so before settling down to sleep.

Gosh this has turned into a real screed........better shut up and make the chap doing the trees a cup of tea.

 

Yes.....

 I managed to get the sewing room sorted, turned on the machine, could not remember what to do, sat staring at it for 5 minutes, then the memory began to return!! 

I also managed to get a chap to come and look at the garden with a view to getting things cut back and shaped. He is coming back on Tuesday to do the job. Photos are of the garden today. Will publish photos when the job has been done. I am looking forward to planting the bulbs we had in pots in the spring.

The pots also need some work. The second rhododendron was badly affected by the sun, and has given up the ghost, I will have to replace it. The hydrangea has stood up to the sun quite well.

DB managed to eat all his supper tonigh, agreed to have gammon with roast potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and parsley sauce tomorrow.

Better day

 It was very grey and overcast this morning. DB'S carer was a lady we had not seen for a long time, it was good to catch up with her.

I have managed to almost clear the sewing room. The machine is up, the unit from the kitchen has been moved in, just some odds and ends need sorting and a couple of lamps re-uniting with their plugs.

Next thing to tackle, the curtain rails and get the curtains up, then the weeds in-between the paving slabs in the back, and cuttings to take and put in the conservatory for the winter, ready for next year. I also need more compost, will have to go up and see Colin and get him to deliver it.

We had fish and chips tonight from the fish shop, needless to say DB devoured every last bit!! Once a month treat.

What a day

DB was ok first thing this morning, had two dizzy does, one this morning before lunch and another just before supper......I went out to get two keys cut, one was fine the other, although it seemed to match, it did not open the door. This is what drives me mad about  where we live, no decent ironmongery where I can get keys accurately cut first go.

Garage cleaned out, cobwebs out, floor swept and hoovered with a industrial vaccum.

Friend came to sit with DB whilst I was out.

Casserole pork with rice, no idea if DB will eat it, if not his will go in the fridge, I cannot afford to waste food at the rate he is going. I got two Belgian buns whilst I was out, guess I will end up eating both!!

Its not stopped to rain all morning

 According to the internet its supposed to clear this afternoon.

Opened the door to the sewing room and closed it again, just cannot be bothered. DB is asleep. I had a better night. I need to try and find a way of DB sleeping upright, he keeps sliding down the bed, which is why he goes dizzy when he tries to sit up. I am going to try putting a pillow under his knees to see if that stops him.

Rang the hairdresser and asked her to come and cut both our hairs, she is coming next Thursday at 10am. We were supposed to be going to the coffee moening but just could not raise the energy, plus it was chucking it down with rain.

DB did not have supper last night so he is having it tonight, thank heavens for frozen dinners, I had not prepared anything. Am going to do belly prok with rice for tomorrow night, see how much of that he eats.

So Beef Lasange and shephers pie tonight, DB can have a banana for dessert.

Terrible night

Just 4 hours sleep, feeling pretty rubbish today, no more done in the sewing room, I have shut the door, think I might have done too much lifting yesterday.

Did manage a short nap this afternoon. We watched the Edinburgh Tattoo last night. Not sure why we bothered, nothing like the Tattoos we used to go to when we lived up there.Most disappointing.

It has been mainly fine and sunny today, it's just started clouding over, going very grey looking. I emptied the rain gauge yesterday, 2 1/2" of rain over the past 2 days.

We are having a ding dinner tonight. DB is having Lasagna, Shepherds Pie for me. There is one banana left DB can have it for dessert.
