Quiet weekend

Yesterday was a quiet day, I was feeling a bit delicate, so had an easy day. I have to remember I have heart failure .

DB did not eat his supper last night, I was not amused especially as I had cooked pork loin. I have put half of it in the freezer.

Carer was late this morning, he was just back from 3 weeks in Zimbabwe visiting family. 

Usual jobs today DB's laundry is in the washer ready to wash on the cheap rate between 2am and 5am. I also sliced the gammon joint I cooked on Saturday, I used the stock to make soup, we had a bowl each with toast at lunch time.

Its quite cold heat was on first thing, put it back on at 4pm to take us through till half an hour before we go to bed.

Supper tonight quiche, salad and new potatoes. We finished off the plum crumble off from yesterday.

How do you do it..?

 Recently I applied to change our address for the voting register.

Previously I had done it over the phone, now you have to do it on line........what happens if you do not have access to a lap top or tablet? Many people of our age are not computer savvy, how do they register? The same thing occurred to me when I was dealing with the paperwork for our recent move.........Everything seems to be done more and more 'on line'. We even have to contact our GP on line. It really irritates me.

Yesterday was a sunny morning, I needed to go to Lidl for a couple of things, I decided to take DB with me, he stayed in the car whilst I was in the shop. We then took a ride on the new road round the town. I hasd changed the bed and decided to wash the linen, I hung it out, the wind had got up, the whirly burled round good style. It was soon dry so folded and in the bag for the ironing lady when she comes on Monday.

This afternoon I changed the foot on the sewing machine and turned the fabric that was cut off the curtains in the sitting room into two draught excluders for the sitting room and hall doors. I used the filling from an old pillow to fill them. I have enough fabric left to make a long one for the doors into the conservatory. I just need to sort through and see if I can find another pillow that's past it's best.

Supper tonight, fish pie for DB, sweet and sour chicken for me.

Gosh its windy

We have had 3 days of high winds, great for drying the washing.

DB has had 2 good days, just slight dizziness, nothing else. 

The hairdresser came this morning to give DB a shave and cut his hair off. He will get the carer to wash his head tomorrow morning.

I an tired, but only to be expected, I had a questionnaire this week from the Dr. re my heart failure, no problem except the tiredness which is not surprising, looking after DB is a fulltime occupation.

Looking at putting the garden to bed over the next couple of weeks and planting the bulbs in pots on the front. I can only do an hour at a time. Max will hopefully come for the next couple of Fridays to sort everything out.

Supper tonight, sausage, mash and baked beans. I finished off a lemon cheesecake. DB elected to have a syrup pudding later.

 

Tuesday

Chiropodist came this morning, so we both have comfy feet.

DB decided this afternoon to have a dizzy, I managed to get him to bed, so I am now reading, he is asleep. May call the carers and cancel tonight's visit, hopefully he will come round enough for me to get him undressed later.

Fridge/freezer arrived yesterday, it is so quiet, no more engine revving when it switches itself on.  It has 4 shelves in the fridge, so lots of room.

We have had very high winds today, rained this morning, sun came out, so dried the laundry in the conservatory on the airer, the wind would have blown the clothes off the line.

Not sure about supper, might end up with something on toast.

 

Busy day

It had been decided that we needed to buy a new fridge freezer when finances recovered a bit from our move.

Yesterday I ordered a new one, it is being delivered tomorrow. Yesterday the cleaner and I went out to the garage and brought in the electric cool box and the freezer chest. So the chest is packed with the stuff from the freezer. Some of the stuff from the fridge is in the cool box. The milk, orange juice etc is in the utility room which does not get the sun, it's quite cold in there.

I will get a 4 hour time slot in the morning for delivery. They will need to decide which way they want to bring it in.

After a couple of naff nights, I managed 9 1/2 last night, hoping for the same tonight.

Chicken for supper, finished off a couple of cheese cakes with some cream.

Uugggg

Winter is on its way, heating is on, I switch it off around 10am, the house seems to retain the heat ok. I have switched the bedroom radiator on first thing.

Nothing much happening. DB seems to have talked to himself and is making the effort to walk more, it's great I no longer have to haul him round on the commode. How long it will last is another matter.

Wet first thing it seems to be clearing up although it's still quite grey.

I was scanning through some stuff the other night, came across a death notice for one of my previous employers, it brought back some memories.

Supper tonight is fishfinger and wedges, dessert possibly lemon cheese cake.

Its cold and foggy

Temperature is 9c just now, heating on in sitting room for a while..

DB has had a reasonable couple of days, a slight dizzy yesterday, slept it off.

Lady came with our library books and took back the ones we had read, 6 for me. Going to just read them in bed before I settle down to [try] sleep,

Nothing much going on, have to rebook my injection appointment after my blood test, so it will be late in November, will try and book it for when DD2 is on days off.

We had a call from the scrabble lady at Catherine Place, she has covid, I am so glad we moved when we did, apparently they are in lockdown to try and reduce the spread.

Supper tonight is Chicken, DB has requested no cooked veg, just a cut up tomato and cucumber. Creme caramel for dessert.

The sun is a shining

 But it's blooming cold. DB had a really bad day yesterday, I was glad to go to bed.

At the moment we are sitting in the conservatory, he is reading, I am girding my loins for a visit from 2 GGS's. They are due after lunch.

Consultation has taken place........ the fridge freezer which the LL kindly gave to us is so noisy and seems to switch on quite frequently, that means it is using electricity. So tomorrow I will get the agency to confirm the gift, and then buy a new one, which will be ours to take with us, if we ever move.

The washer is ok, although it does not switch off until you set the dial to off, is ok, it could do with a new door seal, but I am not paying for that. I will see if I can clean it. In the winter I can dry the washing in the conservatory. The dish washer appears to be quite new, although I have not checked that.

Supper tonight, roast pork, potatoes and cauliflower cheese. Not too sure about dessert as yet.

Not A Good Start

DB decided to have a full blown dizzy attack this morning. Carer had just come to get him up, we tried a couple of times, but in the end there was no point in him standing around waiting. In fact it was almost 11am before DB surfaced.  I washed and dressed him and got him through into the living room, So no breakfast, he had cheese on toast and yogurt at lunch time, and promptly went back to sleep. I am seriously tired at the moment, my sleep had improved, but this past week it has been awful.

I washed bed linen on the cheap electricity, it's out on the whirly. Its sunny, but only to get up to 19c today. Love the smell of washing dried on the line.

I hard boiled a couple of eggs, so egg salad for supper tonight.......Not sure about a dessert.

 Morrison have released their order dates for Christmas, I have put a basic order in, I can review it month by month. DB has asked for pork, so order in for stuffed pork shoulder and a raspberry trifle. I will order a bottle of sherry nearer the date and possibly a bottle of liqueur.

Sunny Morning

Sitting in the conservatory is quite pleasant, the sun is warm through the glass. I have been out in the garden,  much to my surprise I found a tiny cyclmen growing through a crack in the paving. I will have a go at getting it out and plant it in the garden.

DB had a bad day yesterday, ended up in bed at 8pm. The Dr rang me, he is putting DB back on the medication he came out of hospital with.........I also spoke to him about my Dexa scan, the scan showed further weakness in the base of my spine, despite being on the medication for 6 years. I go for my first injection next week.

DB is having stovies tonight. I will probably have a ding dinner.
