Phew its hot again

The temperature gauge was up to 30c today. It was my 2 hours off, so a visit to the post office to draw cash, Lidl for a few oddments, also managed to get DB another pair of shorts, a polo shirt and some white socks for £13........excellent......bought 3 packs of their brown rolls, 4 in a pack for 73p, we often have a filled roll at lunchtime.

I went into QD for more of the baskets for the sewing room cupboard, they had one, but it was £4.99 they had an offer on 2 for £7.99, so I walked away. Will try again another day. 

DGD came just after 9am, to pick up the shelf unit, she brought both the boys with her. E now understands if you say no, you mean no. S is 6 months old, quite different to E, very plump and talkative in his own way. We had a great conversation me talking and him talking scribble!!

We are slowly moving towards our moving day, next Thursday they will pack up everything we do not need and put various bits of furniture into the van. They will then be back on Monday to load what's left and take it to our new home.

Our friends from the coffee morning will be able to come down to the lounge on Sunday night for a cup of tea and a piece of cake. I showed them the pictures we had of the bungalow. Everyone was very complementary.

So tomorrow will be a quiet day, I have a grocery delivery coming, then I will pick up the small machine ans some of the stuff that's lying around. I also need to make a list of what we are taking when I pick up the keys a week on Saturday, and collect it all together, so I can just pick it up. I may load the car on Friday night, depends how hot the day has been and how tired I am.

Tonight's supper, cold chicken, salad and coleslaw. Strawberries for dessert.

Serious conversation.

This morning I had a serious conversation with DB regarding yesterdays debacle. Afraid I did the no talking to him until we went to bed. He was well aware that I was not happy!!

So.......this morning I have cooked mince, he wants mince, a small amount of mashed potato and a couple of small bits of cauliflower.........we will see.

A dull, cool morning, now after lunch the sun has come out, it's due to reach 25c.........

DBs laundry is drying on the dryer in the sewing room. Tomorrow I need to empty and move the bookcase A is collecting on Wednesday. The bedroom curtains have been changed, so need to pack them into the bags and squeeze the air out. Will put labels on them so I know where they need to be left. I have to send for curtain rails and get them put up, there are blinds on the windows so they can be pulled down at night or to keep the sun out.

I also want to prep a crate with mugs, tea, coffee etc and the caravan electric kettle, so we can make a drink.

Gosh reading all that makes me tired, I'd better go and have a nap!!

Ready to walk out

I am furious, I spent 2 hours prepping and cooking supper, two mouthfuls in DB said he could not eat it!!

This is not the first time, why do I knock my pan out cooking for him not to eat it,? It's a waste of time, money and food.

The temperature has gone up again, fan on in the sitting room.

I woke up this morning feeling really yuccy, it did clear eventually. Down to Aldi to take some stuff back, shorts too large belt too short.

Dish drainer on a tray arrived, the new kitchen has a Belfast sink with wood worktop, so need a drainer on a tray to  preserve the wood.

Carer phoned and confirmed booking over 9th and 10th of August, warned me the carer tonight may be late, they are struggling, several carers off either sick or on holiday.

I stocked up a bit, there is a large cupboard in the kitchen which will be great as a pantry cupboard, just need to fill it. I am also looking for a secondhand freezer for the garage. Morrison have an offer on just now, 3 smoked salmon and 3 salmon fillets for £10. we enjoy salmon either in sandwiches or cook and let go cold with salad. I could also store meat and made up suppers.

Supper tonight egg, chips and a slice of buttered bread. Dessert, raspberries in jelly.

Finished all clear to move

Today we signed the last of the paperwork and I have paid the first month's rent, less the holding deposit I had paid. 2 weeks on Saturday we will get the keys and will be able to start moving some light stuff and ingredients for our first breakfast in the bungalow...........I feel rung out, it has not been easy, we had an identity  problem, neither of us have current passports. We have not been abroad for over 10 years.

So now we face packing and unpacking again........

Here we go

Just signed over the deposit money, waiting for the next  document which will be the first month's rent and then the agreement  to be signed. It is no longer a straight forward application. Heaven knows what they do if you have not got the internet!!

So now we wait, arrangements to be made, things to sort out, we are staying in the guest suite overnight, so hopefully I will be able to get my cleaner here and we can do the last minute clean, after the furniture etc has been moved out.

Its a much cooler day than forecast, quite bright, but cloudy.

Supper tonight pizza and salad.

So..... the move is on.

Just had a phone call to say everything is fine. We just have to go through the last few hoops, paying out a shed load of money, and we can go forward with our plans.

I have just ordered the wardrobe for our room, it will be delivered the day we move in........so I might be able to sleep better tonight. The agent who rang me could hardly speak, she was delighted. Since the rules about renting have been altered it's far more complicated than it used to be. I owe her a large bunch of flowers.......I know it's part of her job, but she really has gone above and beyond for us.

So now we are on the countdown.......

Its been another warm day, up to 25c, we be glad when it cools down a bit.

We had a light supper, patched eggs on toast and a glass of ice cold shandy.

 

Another blistering week

The weather has been so hot......30+ at times, it has cooled off   this last couple of days. We are at stalemate with the bungalow, hopefully will get news this coming week. I did have a nice surprise though, I had budgeted for a new fridge freezer, washing machine and dish washer. I was sent the inventory done in January 2025 all three are included. There were also lots more photographs which has enabled me to get a better idea of space etc. So money saved.

We have been living on salads whilst it has been so hot. Yesterday DB had beef lasagna, I had chicken hot pot, no ding dinners in the freezer now. Back to salmon salad today.

The pots outside are looking good. I have covered the hydrangea everyday till the sun moved round, some of the heads have singed in the strong sun. The two clematis I planted in the trough are almost up to the top of the metal support. The purple one has a flower on it.

Not much else gone on took DB to get his hearing tested, he has new hearing aids, and I have had the plastic pipes replaced. We both hear so much better.

DB is coming on with getting around, walking a lot better with his walker, hopeful that he may get outside when we move.

DGD and family have moved into their first house, she emailed to thank me for the stuff I got for her, said it had come in very useful. DD2 will find it very odd and quiet now they have moved out. They have been living with her for a number of years. She will miss the little ones.

Cleaner has been today, so everywhere is clean and tidy. Bins etc emptied.

Oh my goodness

 I did not realise it was so long since I had written on my blog.

We have been busy.....as some of you know neither of us have been happy here. We came with such high hopes unfortunately things have not worked out, so we have been looking for alternative accommodation. This week we have had an offer accepted on a bungalow on the outskirts of Melton. We hopefully move over 9th and 10th of August.It has 3 bedrooms, so DD2 will not have to share with the sewing machines. The garden is paved with just 2 small beds. There are some trees which could do with being trimmed.

I have been busy sorting things. The hot weather has not helped, it has been blistering here. 

We went to a thanks giving service on Tuesday. DB managed very well. He is not having so many dizziness just now. I have been making him drink water and that helps.

No cooked meals this week, it's been too hot.
