A bit cooler

but due to reach 27c again this afternoon, fan is on in the sitting room, will be closing the curtains in the bedroom shortly.

Cleaner is here, doing her usual excellent job......bed changed, carer took all the sheets etc off. I have put the duvet into its bag and replaced it with a sheet and also the quilt, it is about 3tog on its own. I usually leave it folded on the bottom of the bed.

Salad again for supper, we did have fish and chips last night.

DB is doing well, he is managing to walk short distances with the walker......long may it continue.....although I doubt it will.

Plants watered last night the hydrageas are coming out. The one I struck from a friend appears to be light pink, the other one is red. The Rhodie I bought has also put up two flowers, its purple. I am waiting for a delivery on white geraniums for the pots I have planted the hardy fuchsias in. The herucara have arrived, I need to pot them up for a while until they are a bit bigger, then they will go in the tough with the clematis. I got 6 for the price of 3!!

Supper tonight will be salad, DB has asked fro cheese on toast for lunch, so will have to grate some cheese.

Hot again

We had the most tremendous storm in the early hours of Thursday morning, lots of lightening, heavy rain and two massive Thunder claps. One of which hit two houses not far from us, we could smell the smoke. No one was hurt, which is a blessing, but 5 fire engines were called out. One house is unlivable, everything is water logged. A call has gone out for clothes etc for them.

DB is now walking to the bathroom using his walker, he has also walked the length of the sitting room. He went with me today to get the car washed, it was long overdue. The place I take it to is local and they do an excellent job. We sat in the car whilst it was done. I used the wheelchair to get him in and out of the car.

Its been hot for the past few days, yesterday and today have been cooler, there has been a breeze.

Tonight is fish and chip night. Lemon cheese cake for dessert.

Its still very hot

 We had a tremendous thunderstorm early this morning, lightening struck a house about half a mile from here, we could smell the burning. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it had made a mess of the roof and attic.

Much to my surprise DB walked from the sitting room to the shower room using his walker and back again......things are looking up.......how long for remains to be seen.

We are mainly eating salad, last night's supper was macaroni on toast........tonight it's corned beef salad. I wish it would calm down a bit, it's too hot for comfort.

Life in this house

 Is never dull..........strange things are going on! There are rumblings from the estate agent. I have a nasty feeling about it. We will have been here a year at the beginning of August.

DB is up and down, much as usual, he was in bed at 7pm on Sunday night, I lay on the bed reading until bedtime for me.

Yesterday was unbearably hot, it was 85 on the terrace this morning, fan has been on all day. We are due a thunderstorm around 5pm, I guess it will be torrential for a couple of hours

I have a couple of cornish pasties for supper, will steam some veg and make some gravy. There are enough strawberries for tonight. Tomorrow will be egg and chips. The freezer is full to bursting.........so need to do a menu plan.

Hot, hot hot

We have had very high temperatures for the last few days. Several records were broken today 34c in some places. Henriettes advice re keeping out the heat has worked well.

DB had a bad day yesterday, ended up in bed when his carer came. He got a talking to this morning.........not that it will make much difference.

The complex has been very quiet, it was a bank holiday here and very hot, so I guess people stayed in.

Supper tonight, sausage and mash with strawberries for dessert.

Its raining

And rather cold, have the heater on to bring the heat up a bit in the sitting room.

I can report a couple of nights when I have had a decent night, average at the moment is 7.5 hours, not bad!!

Foot lady here today, I need to keep an eye on the budget, the car needs a service and insurance is due next month as well, it was well over £500 last year.

I also need to finish the 2 jumpers I knitted. Guess DD2 will be up sometime this week, i can give them to her then.

Weekend

Started this on Saturday, its now Monday, got diverted.

Incident last Monday was a resident from the bungalows collapsed and died. Very sad. It was unexpected, understandably her husband is distraught, she went out to walk the dog and never came back.

The week generally was ok, we went to the coffee morning in the lounge on Wedesday. I nipped out to Lidl for a couple of things and came back with a bag full!! Its my wednesday 2 hours off this week.

I spent some time on Sunday sorting out the pots in on the patio. I potted up the Rhodie which is putting up new growth and also has the begining of next years flower buds on. I emptied the trough, that had the bulbs in. I have compost to put in and then I am going to put a fan shaped frame in and plant up a couple of clematis, ones that flower at different times if possible they will be sheltered from the worst of the wind by the kitchen wall.

Chiropodist comes tomorrow, so nice comfortable feet.

DB has had his moments during the week, but on the whole he is ok. Since the speech therapist came he has not coughed so much, I wonder why???

Supper tonight is the left over chicken from last night, with mash, carrots and peas. I have some strawberries for dessert.

A bit of excitement

No idea what went off but yesterday the complex was closed down for 2 hours. Ambulance and 6 police cars, no one in or out.........Carers etc had to walk in.

DB has had good days and mediocre days, today so far he is ok. I am suffering badly from lack of sleep, not had a decent night for over a week.

Speech therapist came yesterday, DB does have a problem with his swallow, I knew that years ago!! He is on a soft diet and has been told to use water to help him to swallow......

I have started getting 3 days frozen meals, the rest of the time I am cooking.......

Tonight its beef hot pot from the freezer. 

So, its Thursday

By yesterday DB had recovered from his vertigo attack, we set off for Hose to spend time with our friends.

Yesterday was also my 2 hours off. I went to Morrison and QD. My regular order from  morrison came this morning. I spent some time sorting out bulbs from the pots. I did buy a couple of fuchsia plants, they are hardy, so can stay out all year.

The last couple of days have not been quite so warm, there is a chilly breeze. By and large the weather has been good for the time of year.

Supper last night was egg and chips followed by raspberry donuts, yummy. Tonight we have Cornish Pasties with veg and gravy, lemon cheesecake for dessert

Quiet day today

 Carer was late this morning, I nipped into the shower whilst DB got his wash. He has had a couple of slight dizziness today, he slept on his back last night. I had a horrendous night less than 2 hours sleep.

Load of washing done, it's on the airer.

I went through the silver and gold ornaments, 3 short of the silver ones so I set the machine up to do them. We are hoping to go to the coffee morning this week, so I will take them for Ros.

DBwatching the snooker. I am struggling to finish the second jumper, finished the sleeves, half way up the front, hopefully will finish it later this week.

Supper tonight, sweet and sour chicken, lemon sponge for pudding.

Thats the weekend over.

DB got up yesterday, although we were both back in bed at 8pm. Today was a bit of a repeat from yesterday and once again, in bed at 8pm.

The cleaner came today, I was able to nip out whilst she was here for some bits from Lidl.

Roast pork for supper, true to form half of it was left, but enough room for lemon cake........not amused.

I am afraid my knitting is going to have to stop, I had not done any since last Monday. This afternoon I decided to start the second sleeve of the jumper I am knitting. The pain in my right hand was awful, so I will finish the jumper and retire my knitting needles. I am living on pain killers just now. Sleep is still a problem........everything seems to be fast tracking at the moment, however I will survive.

.? First day of summer

 DB is confined to bed, if he stands up he passes out. He has slept for a good part of the day, I joined him once the carer had been and washed his hands, face legs and feet. I cancelled them for tonight. T kindly came at lunch time so I could go to the post office for cash and post a parcel.

He seems a bit better this afternoon, he had a roll at lunchtime, lasagne for supper. I managed a siesta after lunch.

Hopefully he will be better tomorrow and able to get up. He will have to miss his scrabble though.
